I will driving an SUV from Quebec City to Montreal in mid October. I notice that there are two lane roads on either side of the river. I want to take the most scenic route. Can anyone make a recommendation based on actual experience. The DW and I will have all day to make the drive. Thanks in advance for your suggestions including a good place to eat and things not to miss.

The most scenic is the West side of the river.

There really isn't much difference either way, in my opinion.

I like the North side, but then I have no idea how to find the west side the others are talking about. Primarily I like it because it has more of the older houses and less new construction. Also, the south side is easier in a motorhome, so next time there may be a reason to go the southern route.

Another consideration may be what's under construction then, and what connecting roads you'll be using.

Looking for Free Wifi I noticed SSID " HRM_Police_Surveillance_Van_#2" Think it's safe to connect?

im assuming you are referring to the 20 or 40... the 20 is busier but they are both highways..... you may get a snowstorm in October so i hope your winter driving skills are up to Quebec standards..... no people on this continent can drive in the snow like Quebecers and maritimers

I use the south side of the river which is highway 20 simply because it's closer to our house. If I were to select based upon a 'nicer' drive, I would use highway 40 on the north side fo the river.
