I was browsing craigslist in Flagstaff and found this cool old 1948 Yellowstone Travel Trailer for sale. Sure doesn't have much in the way of windows!

If it is as good as it looks it is a buy.

The lack of windows on that side, make up for the slide and bay windows on the opposite side

I think the A-frame is on the other end.....the door is usually to the cube side, so it appears that we're looking at the right side and back of the trailer

It does look like the tongue is on the right side of the picture. According to where the axle is, this would have a negative tongue weight. Very strange!!!!!

judging by where the wheels are located it looks like the tongue is missing. if ot were on the far end there would be no tongue weight!

I don't think that's a travel trailer, it's a, "mouse house", or tear drop. It appears there is no A frame. It also appears to be one of those occasions where if the guy gave it to you you would still have trouble coming out on the deal.

I kept thinking about that trailer and then remembered where I had seen a similar one. Years ago there was an article in Popular Mechanics or Mechanics Illistrated about plans to build your own trailer. I'm going to guess it was about 1955. It may have been earlier because my dad never threw those magazines out. There were plans to build a trailer on an old pick up truck chassis if I remember right. Is there anyone out there with a better memory than mine or possibly even have the old magazine that those plans were in? I'm sure this is one of those home built jobs.

It is not a home built with the name Yellowstone. The company went out of business in 2007.
