There is way too much concern about the ten year rule--it really is a non-issue for 99% of the the recreational users.

Our new (to us) rig is a 97 - we were looking for places to long term and at one we were really interested in they asked us to just bring the motorhome in so they could take a look. We're in - he even called her "beautiful". Grin!!!! Of course after being in ND for a few weeks she needs a bath badly, and a good wax job!
As the former manager of a marina/campground I know why they have that rule - you can even find folks with rv's within the age limit that are truly "trailer trash" - hard to make the decision on the phone, even asking for a photo via email doesn't work. Once you get someone in like that you can't get rid of them, especially if they're long term! It was the same way with boats - the age and dollar value sometimes didn't reflect "who" the owner was. It's the old bad apple thing.
Paranoia is only hindsight in advance.

I've never been asked how long my MH is when I drive up to any park. I was asked when making a reservation. I have to believe that the majority of the parks that have the "10 year rule" use it only to prevent the blue tarp crowd out. As long as a rig is well kept and not an eyesore, they will gladly take your money. I may be the only person that will admit that I don't have a problem with it...btw: my MH will be 10 years old next year.
It doesn't have fullbody paint and I'll bet that only one person in ten can come within three years of guessing its age.

was just lusting over a '95 monaco that recently sold on feebay. Anyone that would not let that rig into their park is an idiot. i can't imagine with the economy as it is right now, there are many places that can afford to turn away paying customers.
Also, to be quite honest, I'd rather sit around a fire and drink beer with the beverly hillbilly crowd anyway.
If I owned a campground, I'd have one rule. Behave yourself and don't be an obnoxious a-hole, no matter if you're in a '73 skoolie conversion or an '09 prevost.

You motor home is not 10 years old but you won't go to a park with a 10 year rule because you may like it and won't be able to go back when you're 10 years old?? Makes sense to me??
I'm 5 years old so won't go either as I may like it and won't be able to go back in 5 years. LOL
Good grief.

Hi kmb1966,
If you like PORT ARANSAS,why don't you go a mile or so north of Golf Waters. It is called "Pioneer Beach RV Resort",very nice & friendly and less $$$,directly on the Gulf, just walk over the dunes.

I better not ever see that cousin Eddie RV next to me at the campground!

To me, money's money- whether it comes from a redneck with a duct taped rv to a full timer with a million dollar rig...We just camped in a park where our Springdale could be considered upscale.....LOL....several rigs had a/c units hanging out the windows sealed with spray foam insulation. They had monthly spots for $270 per month including all full hookups...can't beat that anywhere!

Their park, their rules. My rig, my money. Another park on the DO NOT CONSIDER list. You won't find me in a place like that. I fully support the OP on this one, regardless of how old or what the rig looks like. Some people think their #$%@ doesn't smell at all because they can cover it in money.
