how expensive will it be like on a monthly basis and should i buy a used class b
Expect to be the youngest person in the park. Sun belt RV parks that rent long term are populated by retired folk ..... that would be in their 60's and older. Some of the older parks are predominantly 70's and up. It depends where you end up. An awful lot of parks out there are 55 and older.

Heather - I would say it depends on:
1. where you are coming from (3000 sq ft house or a 400 sq ft apt)
2. is it just you or will there be children or pets?
3. Are you looking at long term in one park or moving around?
4. Staying in same area due to working or moving about the country?
5. Are you a homebody or like to be out and about?
there are so many variables, that without further information, it is very hard to make a proper assessment.

We actually lived for a year in a very small park in NJ for $350 month. Water, sewer, electric, cable and trash pick up. We lived there the last year we worked before retiring to travel.
We've met a gentlemen who lives full time in his Class B but he travels. He loves it so it's possible.

Uhhhh...not necessarily so...I am 41 and am the 2nd eldest person (full timing and not including my wife) at the park I'm at.
More and more younger folks are getting into full time RVing these days. Expect to see all sorts and ages!!

You may be able to get away with some of the newer class B's. They are almost like c's but on Sprinter chassis with the Mercedes diesel. IMO those things are expensive but would have everything you need to full time. You might want to take a look at the Escapees forum to give you an idea what the lifestyle entails.

I pay an average of 400.00/month next to lakes for electric, water, trash pickup, grounds maintenance. New neighbors all the time, some louder than others, but generally good people. I don't even consider it camping anymore after two years, it's just the way I live.

RV parks are just like neighborhoods.
There are expensive ones
There are cheap ones
Some are nice
Some are total crap
Some are filled with really nice people
Some are filled with jerks
For the most part:
1. You can stay as long or as short as you want
2. Most places are a nice mix and filled with a variety of people
3. Check www.rvparkreviews.com before you pick a place
4. The area you stay in will dictate:
a: price
b: who stays there
c: amenities
eg. Parks in a slower area of Kansas will be different that what you will get in SE Florida in January.

Why would you find this disconcerting? Thats kind of ageist. I am 31 and live in an RV full time. I run an online business. I absolutely hate staying on one place for long.. so month to month parks are great for me.

We fulltime in a 35 foot 5th wheel. We wouldn't want to go smaller, but there's two of us, & two golden retrievers. We need a king size bed so we can all fit (lol). We stay in parks usually costing between $500-$700. We think it's hard to find a nice one cheaper. It's still much cheaper than upkeeping & living in a house, & lots more fun. We've never had anything stolen. We think rv'rs are honorable & friendly people on the whole. We will never go back to house. Our home just comes with us, & we couldn't be happier.
