I know most of the class A's on here have larger tires than I have, but I have LT235/85R16 load range E tires on my older rig (17,000lb). Wanted to know what brand tire members would recommend for this size application. They are 8 years old and I want to replace them before taking a long trip. Don't care for michelin's, but looking into Cooper, Toyo, Kuhmo or others, and should they be balanced? Thanks Dave

In Jan 2010 I replaced mine with Firestone LT235/85/16. My previous tires were Mastercraft made by Cooper. They lasted about 8 years then the dreaded dry rot.

Price wise Falken Radial AP seem to be the most economical in my local. But BFG Commercial T/A were a good value two years ago. My 215/85 R16 have been very trustworthy so far.

I'm on my second set of Cooper SRMII's. The first set was installed in 2002. I really like the ride and sound level. I had no issues with them, on my rig. I replaced them in 2009, just because they were old. They still looked like new, after 20K miles and had only minor checking. The tire dealer actually gave me some money for them, as he said he had someone that was going to buy them.
The 6 tires were less than $1000, installed, balanced, tax, etc. Minus what I was given for the old ones, I wound up paying around $700.
One of the things I really liked about the Coopers was that they reallyn held air. Only lost a couple of PSI in a whole summer of use. My Michelins seemed like they constantly needed to be adjusted. I'm running my rig, right around the 17000 lbs rating of the chassis. JMHO...Pat

I run Firestone Transforce H/T 245/75/16. They have worn well and ride good. Traction is also very good. They run cool and are speed rated to 106 mph, which is also important.

935 out the door for Made in America Cooper SRMII. Mounted Balanced Installed. Love them. I've had Coopers on my Toyota truck and really liked them so it was a logical choice.
