I have an older Generac PrimePac 5500. I have run it for 4-5 days, 23 hrs per day.....The reason for the hour off. Letting it cool down to check oil level. The limiting factor on gas gensets is the oil change interval.

I've run my Onan many times for several days in triple digit and sub-freezing temps and it just keeps purring along. I wouldn't give it a second thought as long as the maintenance schedule has been kept up on it.

I don't know about stopping it for a rest, but I will stop my gas-powered genset daily to check oil level, and as often as needed for oil changes according to the maintenance schedule.

As said by others. You might want to invest in a Genturi to get the exhaust up in the air and away from doors, windows, neighbors, etc.

Ours runs from the time we disconnect from shore power at home until we reach our final destination. This can often be 24-48+ hours. We usually overnight at Flying J's or Wal-Marts and are not next to other campers.

I do not recommend running a generac for that many hours without a stop and rest. Lots of plastic in Generacs.....

After Hurricane Charlie we were without power for a week. I ran the generator 24/7 for 7 days straight with a FULL load. Our MH was used as a neighborhood cooling station for a week so both A/C's were running. We also had my house refrigerator and my neighbors refrigerator plugged in. Onan came through like a champ.

A generator doesn't know if it's been running 5 hours or 5 days, it's purely a mechanical device that operates within a given temparature range and lubricant requirements. All you need to do is maintain the recommended manufacturer's maintenace schedule and you should have no problems.

Recently it ran about 10 days, only shut it down to check fluids. I would have run it longer but we were able to connect to shore power.
our is diesel so I can't speak about a gas unit.
Here's where we are
