Have read and tried several different ways to make backing into a site easy. Today I found the best=hands down. After 100 plus camp sites this is the first one I have seen with a staight white stripe along the utility side of every numbered camp site. All the DW had to do was tell me when to stop. Rear camera, not used, verbal or sign language not used except for stop signal. Amazingly simple and effective. Looks like they might have used sports type lime spreader. Capmground owners = try it on a few spaces. Campers will live you.

In those cases where backing into a space is a bit more of a challenge than normal, I use four orange soccer disc's. I just pull forward and lay an arc with the four disc's where I want the rear wheel to go and just back into the space with ease. Even if my tire runs over one of the disc's a bit it doesn't hurt them, they snap right back to shape.

If you have hook-ups, lay down a strip of rope lights along the backing-in line; good for day or night use.

I draw a line in my head on where the tires need to roll.
DW/DD just hollar stop if I will be hitting something on the blind side.
If they try to give directions I get out and walk it again.

I have 4 orange cones that I keep in the bed when camping. Sometimes I just measure from the concrete pad and set the 4 cones where the tires have to be if there will be a blind spot and cant see the concrete pad.
I set the cones around 9 feet and now have exact spot on both sides of trailer. Sometimes wife even lets me know when to stop but I dont bank on it.

Just back nin with DW at the rear corner. Eye ball the line up.
RV's with slides come in different sizes. Some require more distance than others to the edge of the site.

Very courteous of the campground owner to provide that!
FWIW, I have a yellow nylon rope permanently stretched along the road-side of my storage space that I use when backing in the trailer. Easy to line the rig up perfectly using the driver’s side mirror & put’s me right on the spot! I imagine you could carry a rope with a couple of stakes & do the same in a tricky site, but so far I’ve been able to make it without resorting to this method.
Having said that, my worst experiences are when backing in on the “off-side” (i.e. curb side first) where I could use a reference line.…maybe I should pack a rope? ;-)

Dave Smith

We have an elderly couple in our club. When they arrive at a space, she gets out with a radio and starts talking him into the site. One time it was a particularly narrow site. He pulled forward, backed, pulled forward again and backed right in. When he got out of the motor home a neighbor came over and told him it looked like they had done that a time or two. His reply was: yes and some day I am going to change the batteries in her radio.

I have seen people stretch out their white water hose.
Chances are that C/G that lines the sites are getting sick of repairing damage to pedestals, site markers, water outlets, bushes, trees, light posts, etc. They're likely doing it for their own protection. And it probably does help them, and also helps campers backing in too.
