Had a really good deal on 2 thin cut ribeyes, I marinated in worschester sauce and seasoned salt. They cooked quick and even on the preheated cast iron, reduced to less than medium heat, 3 minutes on each side with the top closed. Perfection! I then sizzled up a couple all beef hot dogs for the DD.
Now what do i do? Just close the lid until it cools off? Should i have scraped off any excess down to the bottom catch pan? How and when do I clean the splatter on the inside of the lid and beneath the cast iron? The flame tube isnt removable, but i guess i can get a scrubber to the inside walls.
Do i clean it after every use? Do i just burn it off on next use? Do i burn it off after the current use?
Is there anything special for a cast iron surface?
Thanks for your sanitary suggestions!

I have a baby Q same thing just smaller. Usually after using the grill I just close ot till the next time to use. The remaining heat will pretty much burn off the rest. The next time I use it which is often I will brush clean the grill surface with a bbg brass brush, give it a shot of Pam grill spray, lite it off, come back in a few minutes and give it a final brush and 2nd quick spray. Grill is hot and ready.
Every so often I will lift the grill out a scrape/clean the bottom of the cast iron. then use a flexible small spatula and peel down the crud in the basin to the disposable tray. The inside of the top just gets dark and adds flavor. You can also use the brush lightly on the burner tube to keep it clean and the flame even.
This method does not work all the time in a moist climate that might allow mold to grow on the waste. There are some bbq cleaners out there but be careful they don't etch the basin and lid.
Weber Q's are the greatest.

I just burn it off, either now or before next use. Give it a thorough cleaning once a year and have at it. Don't know if its right or wrong, but I'm still here, and sme burgers are sizzlin as I type!

That's EXACTLY what we do.
When we first started fulltiming, I worried and worried about how to best clean that thing and finally decided not to.
I'm sure that some would disagree , nut it's worked well for us!

Us too. It is grill, it will get "dirty". Adds to the flavor. Our's is five years old & works great.

I scrape the grill mine and brush the loose residues into the 'tub' and then brush everything down into the catch tray and toss it out. I usually do this at the end 4-5 grillings.
