Ha! Old habits are hard to break. With my iPad I still get to "turn" pages. However, currently I am reading a real hard cover book and am now having difficulty adjusting it for the right light and find the book cover jacket a nuisance. Holding it in an open position now seems to be a pain and it weighs at 2 lbs 13 oz almost twice as much as my iPad. I guess there are trade offs with every reading experience.

They read PDF, Microsoft Word Docs, and EPub, and they have a very extensive ereader store of over 1 million books. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think you can use a Sony Reader to buy books from Barnes & Noble, Amazon and Apple. The iPad has access to those three sources. The Sony Reader right now has one advantage over the Kindle and the iPad. You can download books from over 9,000 public libraries that use the Overdrive system. Overdrive doesn't have a stake in the hardware business so I imagine it is just a matter of time before the iPad will download from the libraries since Overdrive says they are working on it and have already tested. I can't find anything where they say they are working on the Kindle. I haven't investigated where the Nook is with public libraries.
PS. I know about translators and work arounds but keep in mind the average reader is not that sophisticated to figure that stuff out and probably not inclined to do so anyway.

The Nook will also download from the public libraries that are supported by the Overdrive system. Right now it seems as if the Kindle and the iPad are the two devices left out.

I don't know about the Nook but Kindle's customer service is awesome. DW had one that went bad and it was replaced immediately. A year later, her's acted funny last night. I called and they said no problem and did some paperwork. 5 minutes later got an email that the new one shipped last night (Sunday) and will be here tomorrow.
