Here's my first RV project. It is a 1973 Holiday Rambler 18 footer travel trailer. Would love some input on what model this is. Any suggestions ? I bought it in up state NY for 800.00 Seems in good shape. Would love to hear some fix up tips especially putting in an AC unit, exterior paints, where to buy parts etc. Thanks in advance for any help.

You need to resize the pictures, they are way too large. 640x480 is the max size allowed.

Go to tinypic.com and upload them. It gives you the option to select a size and it will resize them for you. Then you can copy the image link it provides after they are uploaded.

Although bigger pixs might be easier to see it can be a real drag for folks who don't have high speed internet and or limited Internet connections (think data usage). Be kind and follow the rules, they are there for a reason.

hairscrambler, welcome to the forum! You will find a wealth of info here.

You have a real classic TT, both inside and outside look to be in fairly good shape for the year.

A few comments though, check that toilet over real well, that is the same toilet I had in my 1984 Komfort. Parts are not easy to get and if available are expensive. Mine had a crack right were the water entered the bowl and would run all over the floor if you opened the flush valve to far. I ended up purchasing a new toilet.

The black tank vent pipe has been replaced or repaired since it is PVC, normally it would be black ABS which is better suited for not breaking. Check out the rest of the drain lines to see if PVC was used if you find PVC you might wish to change it to ABS.

Take lots of photos of your "project" we love to see the changes and improvements!

You can view my rebuild HERE

And for a lot of info I have learned by rebuilding you can take a look at a document I have been writing HERE (dialup users this file is 1 meg in size)

Both documents are free for your own personal use and can be saved to your hard drive.

Brings back memories!

I grew up with a 1968 Holiday Rambler 20' till about '85 or '87 when we quit going. That thing lasted a long time. It got passed onto a sibling who used it for a number of years after that.

I'm surprised you found one with a bumped out front end with the bunk up top. I never see them like that when I browse the internet. My dad said it was an option on ours to have the 2 person bunk up top and the factory had to make the front different to accomodate that option. If you look around, you'll see most do not have the front end slanted that way.

I wish they made them like that now. I know, much less aerodynamic, but hey, when you're looking for sleeping room . . .

The layout is a little different, but if you have any questions, the layout and the items that were in there are still fresh in my head.

I had forgotten about those little plastic "daisies" on the walls! I always like them for some reason.

We had a early 70's Holiday Traveler as a kid unfortunately I only have vague memories of it. Would be curious to know what model level the traveler was compared to the rambler.
