Keep at it. Keep working it. Don't let go now. You almost have it.

I just use dishpans and a large Tupperware basin for the shower and dump it in a hole outside. Once it hits the tanks, it's not legal to dump.

...because it's illegal to dump your gray water on the ground on Calif. State...or BLM Lands?

A sampling of Colorado State Parks Regulations...but they're all the same. This is statewide law.

Cherry Creek:
It’s illegal to dump waste, sewage, including dishwater, onto the ground or in the water. Please use the dump station located by the campground entrance if necessary.

Trinidad Lake State Park:
A dump station located near the campground entrance. Please use this facility; it’s illegal to dump waste and sewage, including dishwater, anywhere else.

Navajo State Park:
Please use the dump station in the Carracas Campground. It is illegal to dump waste and sewage, including dishwater, anywhere else.

Eleven Mile:
Dump stations are located near the North Shore and Witchers Cove campground entrances. Please protect the environment by using these facilities. It is illegal to dump waste or sewage, including dishwater, anywhere else.

Jackson Lake:
A dump station is located on the west side of Jackson Lake. It is illegal and a health hazard to dump waste water and sewage, including dishwater, anywhere else.

Mueller State Park:
There are no sewer hookups, but a dump station is available to registered campers. Please use the dump station. It is illegal to dump any waste or sewage on the ground or vegetation, including dishwater.

State Forest...including the OHV Area:
A dump station is located near the maintenance
shop at the North Michigan Entrance off County Road
41. Please use this facility. It is illegal to dump waste
and sewage, including dishwater, anywhere except in a
holding tank

Specific "rules", as opposed to "laws" at specific destinations, parks, and campgrounds notwithstanding, maybe we need to look at some definitions first, per California state law, kitchen waste is not considered to be "graywater".

ACTION: Publication of supplementary rules for Long-Term Visitor Areas managed by the California Desert District Office, California and Yuma Field Office, Arizona.

Sec. 16. Dumping

Do not dump sewage, gray water, or garbage on the ground. This includes motor oil and any other waste products: Federal, state, and county sanitation laws and county ordinances specifically prohibit these practices.....

I'm not dumping "on" the ground. It is going "in" the ground. I can understand why one wouldn't dump "on" the ground. Secondly, I guess I should report them for "dumping" sewage with their vault toilets, huh?

This will be a ticket I'd definitely fight, and IMHO, win.

Thanks for the legal piece! Where did you find it, I've tried a few time to look it up.

Dan...

*NEVER* count on winning a ticket!

Judges (any & all courts) can be very, *very* bizarre folks!

That can work in your favor - or against.

IMHO - you would (at best) have a 50/50 chance.

I'm sure people could point out plenty of other reasons. Me? I refuse to live in a state that has a commercial that begs you to come live there.

Also, I like my big scary guns. You can't have those in California unless you're a criminal. Fortunately for you though when every second counts California's finest are only minutes away...

These are all state park campgrounds with dump stations provided. Of course they should be used.

Cali sucks for other reasons too.

P.S. I do like the weather though.

Can't disagree more that CA sucks, but as Mav said, can't beat the weather. That's why there's so many people (way too many). I only wish my business wasn't stationary and weather dependent or I'd be somewhere else too.

And I was born and raised in Burbank!

Saw a list of new BLM rules over on Thumpertalk CA section a while back, it specifically said no dumping of gray water.

In the past I have made an evaporation pond with some sucess. I use (4) 2 X 4 laid on edge to make a frame then line it with a blue tarp. Fill it with grey water then let it evaporate. It evaporates pretty fast in the dez most of the year....winter takes longer. Do this as needed during your stay then sweep the sediment in the tarp into the trash, or in my case I just fold the tarp into itself and throw the whole thing away.
