Campground... bad idea and probably against their rules and some state health rules too.

Boondocking in the Dez, to me that's a different animal. We camp in the desert here too and even in the OHV areas the rangers/hosts don't mind if we release our grey water in small amounts at a time. I use a long hose and a round fountain sprinkler on the end that acts as a strainer, I can then pound any of the sediments out in the garbage can later if need be.

I have a mental image of the Y-Guy family running through the grey water sprinklers in their birthday suits.

Use a long hose, place it by a bush or dig a hole and leave the grey tank open to trickle it out. If it is left in a tank and then released it is illegal due to the bacteria that forms in the tank, but if it is let out as you make it, just like if you are tenting or using a pop-up or outdoor shower it is fine.

That's the argument I've made before in a campground when I was "caught" emptying some grey water on the ground. What's the difference between me doing it and a tent camper throwing their dirty dishwater across the ground. I lost the argument.

I do like Dave's pic. Where do you find this stuff?

I carry a 15 gallon tote if I'm in a developed campground and need to haul some grey to the dump station. Will get me by for a day or two.

I bought a drain cover with garden hose connection. Most places 50' will get it off the site or at least yours.

If you've never seen The Oblongs, you should definitely add it to your TiVo lineup. The reruns play on Cartoon Network (Adult Swim) and sometimes on TBN. It's hilarious stuff, but pretty low budget. I don't know how they got Will Farrel to do a cartoon.

Sorry for the Hijack, Chris.

Blame Y-Guy.

some places its legal, and actually it is legal in Cal as long as it isn't against posted rules.

I got a ticket for it one time in socal, went to court and the judge dropped it when I brought up the law that states, whatever the code was. The prosecutor tried to say I was dumping everything and everything. I specifically told the ranger when he asked me what I was doing, that I was dumping my grey, he still ticketed me.

Up in Norcal, most park rangers will not hassle you and ask that you run a house to a bush, water them, keeps the plants greener, less fire hazard etc..

The only time's I have had to drain a little was in the dez. the ground is soft and I dump it in a hole and cover it up.
My opinion is it should be ok to do if it's done that way.
