With my water heater nearing the end of it's life, I have a feeling my old Culligan Water softner is also nearing the end also.
I have been seeing the ads for easywater softners claiming they use no salt and etc and was wondering just how good they really are.
Tried several times to obtain direct comparison information and so far unable to.
I like the soft water we get now - but if a salt free system works as well just using electricity and a different process I would certainly be open for making a change when I replace my water heater.
Anyone out there having experience, thoughts, information on this topic?
God Bless

We contacted EZ Water and they never called back. I do know that the system is 5K to buy. We had a Zeta Rod, same principle, installed while we've been gone. The cost of the Zeat Rod, without installation, is 2500. We won't be home until the 1st week of August. I can let you know what we think of it when we get back if you're still interested.

Bill,
If you are happy with Culligan soft water..........you will not be happy with easy water........it's a different kind of softwater.......easy water allows calcium build up on your fixtures unlike what you have now.....
My FIL had salt based soft water and bought into that electronic softwater........within 4 months he converted back to the old style......
I've got Culligan softwater and a reverse osmosis system and would not be without either system.........

Just a little info on my Culligan system. Had it installed 14 years ago. Since then I have replaced the water heater 4 times, The salt from the softner ate them up, or so they tell me. Just about a week ago I could not get any soft water any where in the house. Called the Culligan man. He told me that due to the amount of Cholrine that this town puts in the water it melted my Resin in the filter and it is now to soft "mush" to let the water flow through. Put it on raw water and every thing works fine. So I guess we will do with out soft water. OH, the cost of a new filter is over 400 bucks.

We have had the same water heater and conventional water softner for the past 9 years. Have also had the same RO system for drinking water and ice maker. Would not go any other way and have had no problems with anything including the ice maker. The water softener takes the minerals out of the water but leaves salt which the RO unit ramoves. Great tasting water and clear clean ice.
