So I had a chance to rent a toyhauler over the long weekend. I had found a guy who rents rv's and had a 19 foot Rampage Way-lite. He claimed it weighed 4800 lbs. Shorter than I'd like but a good starting place for us.

I pick it up Friday, take off, and I was thinking, "man this thing feels heavy!" I pulled on the scales at the nearby Cemex plant. I grossed out at 12,700 lbs. My Suburban on the same scales with me and my two kids with a full tank of fuel was 6,200 lbs. That means the 19 footer was 6,500 lbs without anything in it.....it did have 65 gallons of water and 16 gallons of gas on board. Thats crazy, for such a small trailer. The sticker inside said the unloaded weight was 5200 lbs.

The Burb pulled it okay but it got a workout! I'm not sure what I weighed afer I put our******in it and a couple of dirt bikes. I made it up just below Flagstaff at an elevation of around 7500 feet. I averaged 7.5 mpg.......yikes! It never got over 210 degrees, I don't have a tranny temp guage. I gotta get ouot and check out the Dune Sport guys in Mesa!

That's about right though. Not crazy. You had 500lb worth of fuel and water. Through in some propane tanks and your gear and you pretty much made up the other 1200lbs (which actually was only 800lb according to the sticker).

ya but it was 6500 lbs before I put anything in it, gear wise. It had a full tank of water, gas for the generator and the propane tanks were full. That shouldn't weigh that much.

I see...unloaded as in no gear either. I was thinking no toys.
Wow...do much for the sticker being accurate. The rental guy is WAY off too. He should know better. Shame shame.
