I was sitting here today looking at Miles who was comfortably stretched out on the window sill and looked like he was "thinking" then he fell asleep and soon started dreaming so I woke him up. It made me wander does he think about his past life? the things he saw? how hungry he was? his travels? etc and than I wandered do they dream about their life? is that why he was having a kitty dream? do they remember what they have been through? does Cashew think about the 60 other cats she lived with? these are probably stupid questions but it just made me wonder as I watched him rest.

I believe they think about chasing birds, eating, and all the adventures they plan on having.

We have two cats - both were rescues - but the female came from a bad situation - she is about 10 years old - I believe she thinks about food a lot - she just sits and waits so patiently if she thinks there is a chance of a kitty snack or her daily tiny bit of milk - I doubt she will ever reach a point where she is sure her food and water will always be there when she wants them.

The second cat (orange, of course) has convinced himself he's human and spends his time thinking up ways to prove it to us!

I'm glad Miles is doing so well - I always look to see if there is an update on him.

I agree with everyone --- it seems the wheels are constantly turning up there -- be it food or the next adventure. Cats are smart critters. And complex.

That is why we like them so much, right?

I've noticed that when my dogs have a really active day with lots of running and playing/barking/etc - their "dreams" seem to be a lot more active?? Like they're reliving the day's events??

I have two cats. One is very outgoing. I Named him Duncan. I have another cat. Her name is Maggie. She is not outgoing. She seems to hate me and everyone.

I have Psoriasis. I grow skin at an abnormal rate.
It flakes off.
My cat Maggie has taken to sniff or eat my skin flakes.

I am now in fear for my life. She has gotten a taste for me.

I think our cats, asleep belly up and all sprawled out, dream of bugs and humming birds, because that is what they chase during the day, bugs. They watch the humming birds alot. I think they think they are big bugs that hover at the feeder. My oldest cat must think of being scratched and loved by humans because she never does anything now but sleep, eat, and sleep..... Well maybe she is dreaming of the kitten grabbing her tail too because that is a constant goal of the kitten, to grab her tail in particular. She use to hate it but tolerates it minimally now.

My/our cat is in love with me then Brenda and at night he licks my hair, cuddles up (and only on my front side) and generally follows me all over the house.

When the door-bell rings he runs to the master bedroom and hides. We think this is because his former owner (adopted 5 years ago from Pima County Animal Shelter on Silverbell Road) could not take care of him/died and someone took him away from his happy home.

He is the most loving cat we have ever lived with (he owns us, as we know they all did)......

Our tabby is motivated by fear of losing his home, I think. He dreams, maybe, but in our night he snuggles.

I hope that his dreams, if he has them, are fun and pleasant. He kneads a lot and I think he is remembering his "mama".
