The motorhome I just bought has a Thetford plastic toilet with a hand operated flush. I want to swap it with the Dometic SeaLand porcelain foot flush toilet I have in my trailer (that I'm selling). I took a quick look and noticed two things... the plumbing goes to a different location (and is PEX on both rigs) and more importantly, the Dometic toilet has four bolts and the Thetford only has two. The PEX I can deal with but now I have serious concerns about the ability to swap one for the other.
Has anyone ever swapped brands like this? Any advise?
Thanks!

Mike,
I have no experience with a Sealand toilet but, I did swap my old plastic Thetford out for a new Thetford china bowl style plus toilet.......the plumbing was different and the bolt pattern was different......so, it wasn't a simple swap out.......
To handle the bolt pattern issue.......I used a Dremel tool to notch out new slots in the ABS plastic toilet flange.....no big deal!.......and for the plumbing, I went to Home Depot and bought a flex line and a shut off valve that allowed me enough flexibility to move the supply line.......
I suspect once you remove both toilets you will find a very similar situation......not that big of a deal........

One other problem you could run into will be. as Eric said above, a different bolt position and many times a toilet flange in a RV application is glued into position into a slip fitting on top of the black tank. If this is the case, you won't be able to turn the flange to re-position the bolts and as Eric mentioned above, about the only way will be to "cut" in new bolt slots.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Since I have to swap toilets it's probably more trouble than it's worth. I can pickup an Thetford Aqua-Magic Style II for under $200 and it has the same bolt pattern (just gotta check the depth).
I guess it'll be a selling point on the trailer!
