I think the best way to stay safe is to avoid stopping at any place that is isolated or just does not feel "right." Try to stop at places that are filled with many other patrons so that you do not stand out as a target.

My next door neighbors son was stopped against his will on a narrow 2 lane road at night by some would be car jackers. They parked their car sideways on the road, blocking both lanes. He had a choice, stop or ram them.

Perhaps this could be how they were stopped in the MH. Again, pure speculation. But it is unlikely an elderly couple would stop to chat with a seedy looking character. Also unlikely they would wander off the main highway onto side roads.

My neighbors kid stopped well before the car, suspecting something wrong when suddenly a tire iron came through the drivers door window, striking him in the head. Although hurt, he managed to throw his S10 pickup into reverse and escape the criminals before they could take him down. This happened 7 blocks from our home.

The only thing that is difficult to tell now is if they possibly had some mechanical issue that caused them to pull of the main highway. Could be an overheating coolant issue or some other engine/transmission item that they wanted to check out. As an over the road trucker he was probably mechanically inclined so it would not be inconceivable that he pulled off of the highway to do some service, or to check out a noise.

The car was found, the search is on for a habitual criminal, We know the rest of the story...

We were in the area only days after for a family reunion. Too bad the cops didn't make it known for seven days there was a problem. Maybe we and a few others would have had our eyes open for the rig or thecar.

One poster said something about "They did not try to notify the owner of the RV"

Isn't that the missing couple? So, how do you notify them if they are missing?

Standard procedure would be to notify only if a missing vehicle report (Which may be part of a missing person report) was filed.

I can't tell you how hard law enforcement works to notify when that happens.. Not because I don't know (I do) but because it would take way too long to post.

How do I know...... I was the one who had to track the people down.

Did too. (Different case) It is what Dispatchers do.
A trooper makes the notification though.. I just do the finger work. (Research)

The cops found the burning RV on the 3rd of July. They didn't do anything about it because they said this kind of thing happens all the time... can you believe it ?

The family reported them missing on the 10th after they failed to show up in lower BC at their daughter's place on the 10th.

The cops lost 7 days .. after the family reported them missing the police all of a sudden got interested..

I'm afraid that the only way to be motorcoachin gin the up country is to be holstering/packing a handgun - in all seriousness. I am reminded everyday why it is a good idea to pack all the time.

I guess I'm just a victim looking for my criminal. Not armed, never been armed, not interested in carrying a weapon. If you want to shoot me, "bring your own".

It's nice to see LE have a "person of interest", but the family still doesn't have a concrete answer where their parents are...
