Looks like they got their man here. Now, they just have to beat him until he tells them where the McCanns bodies are located. How terribly sad. Again here is a guy who was given too many chances to clean up his act.

Here's the latest now...
Quote: "The investigators have some information that Mr. Vader has a knowledge of the whereabouts of the McCanns," he told CBC News.

Hopefully this will shed some light on what happened.

Now as far as enhanced cell service, of course we have that in Canada! The stretch of road and location in question are out of normal cell coverage range. Telus has way better coverage in the mountains than Rogers does. So depending where you are, you may or may not have cell coverage when you get away from the inhabited areas....
The locations of the burnt RV, the SUV, and suspect are not in remote mountains. This out on the flat plains west of Edmonton, about half way to Jasper. From the Google satellite image the area appears to be half forest and half agriculture (esp close to the highway). Cell coverage should be good.
It sounds as though many in the area have worked in the 'oil patch', including the suspect.

I travel around a lot anywhere in Northern Alberta. (around 100,000 KM per year) I can tell you that cell coverage is spoty along most highways. No Matter if I got to Edson, Hinton, Grande Prairie, Ft. McMurray etc. As soon as you get out of towns you loos cell coverage at very little dip in the ground. Very frustrating if your vehicle is alo your office like it is for me.

Paul, when is the last time you drove that road?
If you have EVER driven it, you would find what Gonzo and I said to be true. When you get out of town, cell coverage drops real fast. It is not all flatland as you suggest by looking at a google map. There is a lot of open areas of nothing. And lots of forests. In fact, it is virtually all forest land. You gotta drive these roads to know. Try driving out of Hinton and head north to GP on Hwy 40. As soon as you make the Hwy 40 turn, you go about a mile and cell coverage is gone. Same thing applies to Edson and all of the other towns along the way. Some of them don't even have any cell coverage.
Have you EVER driven these roads? Gonzo drives them more than me but I have wound up my odometer a lot in the area too.
The biggest screen room I have ever built in my business was in Niton Junction. Got a couple pictures of it on my business website.
