At least that offers some hope!
that doesn't mean *they* are driving it. Based on comments from their kids this would be totally out of character. There is zero reason to drive to PG if you're going to Vancouver area. PG is a long way the wrong way, so I have to doubt they are driving. Besides, a week later and they are all over the news and they haven't reported in? does not bode well IMHO.

Also 2 weeks since they are missing and they have not used the bank or credit card. Unlikely!! Even if you use cash they will need a CC for a hotel or so!

Unfortunately, after reading the latest linked report and seeing the total destruction of the motor home I have lost all hope of a positive outcome to this story.
They have been incommunicado for too long and no activity on their credit cards and such...
I ride it like I stole it!
.......and I just may have.......

I really have a hard time believing that the RCMP took so long to follow up on a search for the owners of the MH after the coach was found on fire. They had the registration papers and they knew who the owners were. The fact that it was burning in that location should have given them some kind of hint that things were not well. Apparently all they did was make a phone call to the residence, which, of course, was not answered. This lost 5 days in the search that would have given any criminals enough time to drive the vehicle out of Canada, if that was their intention.

your right this is on local news today:
Talk about RCMP can not do anything right?? READ THIS"
Regarding the missing old couple from AlbertaIt has been a banquet of mistakes, of laziness, of unprofessional conduct — and two lives are in the balance here," said Bill Pitt, an Edmonton-based criminologist, law enforcement instructor and former Mountie.
"I think just about every protocol I'm aware of as far as investigation is concerned has been missed, sloughed off or tried to be explained in some ridiculous fashion.
"It's a blown investigation from beginning to end. Completely blown."
Pitt says the miscue, no matter how benign, is indicative of an investigation that was off the rails from the start. He says green recruits, staffing shortages and a culture of hoarding information in the RCMP is beginning to reap a terrible harvest for Canadian citizens like the McCanns.

Here is a thought from a different perspective. I was googling the McCanns to see if I could find an update and I came across this post on a sports forum:

Reading this suggests cross posting in any other forums that we may read. Sounds like a good idea.
But also, we as RV'rs may not consider it from a dirt bikers point of view, that the Hyundai may be ditched in the woods somewhere. Something to keep an eye open for if any of us are off-roading anywhere in the area or even in other locations.

Your absolutely right, 5 days is a long time. It's my opinion that the longer this goes unsolved, the colder the trail will get.
For example, if the car was sold to a chop shop (before the media attention in regards to what crime that car may or could be attached to). They (the chop shop) would have taken their car apart in no time. Which would mean that there won't be a car to find.
Although if there is a crime, which I guess the evidence suggests. Unless the individual or individuals involved were in transit, they’ll more then likely will still be in the area or surrounding counties.
Just my opinions,
Pops

I wonder if any of the witnesses stated who was actually driving their Hyundai?
