Well I finally dumped cable tv and went to sattelite. Now I need to learn how to make it work in the RV. So far I know that you must use a receiver that is made to be used on a analog TV. My old TV in the basement is analog and the receiver I will use is for it. I have been told that a single LNG dish is adaquit for analog TV's. I have the dish, tri-pod and the RG6 cable. And thats as far as I have gotten. What else do I need and if someone can give me directions on how to proceed that would help.
I know that some of you think making it work is very simple , but it's only simple if you know how. You see I am simple and it's nothing like me at all.

Not quite right.. you must use a satellite receiver, which has analogue outputs.. of different types.

I think you're getting confused with the OTA digital converter boxes, which are NOT used with sat tv.

Sat TV for RVs

Take receiver from house

Basic DTV from house

Directv on the road from house

Setup dish.

satellite tv -aim a dish

Les . . .

Do you know if your DIRECTV system at home is setup using an SWM switch? This is important to RV setup - If you have them, one way you might be able to tell is, do your HD-DVR's have a single lead running to them?

I just switched to DIRECTV and recently went thru all this - there are "things" to know to make RV setup of the home receiver, a non-event "ESPECIALLY" if the home uses an SWM switch system

In at least our area, most new installs are going in with SWM

What else do you need? A lot more research on this topic. There is tons of information already posted on this topic. Do a search and you will have lots of reading.

Get yourself a compass and a signal meter.

Between myself and my wife we made it work today. Took a couple hours but suddenly there was a perfect picture. Had two problems to work out. The first dish had a bad LNB but when I replaced the LNB I still couldn't make it work until the wife asked if being to close to the carport with a metal roof might be affecting the compass. I moved over ten feet and suddenly north was 20 degrees further east.
But it works now thanks to the help I received from you guys.
And 2OLDMAN I'll be passing by Mose's Lake in a few days. I'll blow my horn when I do. Thanks much.
