I'm going to call the local rescue, you all are right, I can't stand to do nothing. I don't believe they will help, as they do tsnr, and they usually look for colonies. They are worth a try, though. Adopting it myself is not an option either. I fulltime in a 29' class c, and I have two older cats already. I can't financially take on another and still be able to care for them as their needs have increased with age.

One last thing, if this is weighing heavily in your mind now. Please don’t hesitate, because once the little one is gone…their gone and may remain on your mind for awhile in the decision your gonna make now.

What about the RV park taking it in? Cats are good to have around, especially if there are field mice or pack rats in the area. These critters are known for chewing on electrical wiring in RV's. Cats keep them away. Nobody has to own it, just feed it and see that it stays healthy.

If this is actually a feral cat, not a frightened stray, then I would say get ye a trap and get it snipped and put it back. An altered cat will almost always fare much better than before it was altered, just due to needing less calories for breeding activities. If limping I wouldn't be at all surprised if you're looking at a tom that's been in a fight. Fighting will decrease after those little trouble-makers are gone and the hormones with them.
As long as you aren't contributing to a breeding issue, I see no problem at all in feeding it. If it is really feral, you won't end up owning anything. Creating a habit of coming to your space for food will make the cat easier to trap, also. If you're going to be there a while, you may end up feeding the cat for a while and, well, worse things could happen.
Now, if you get kitty in a trap and find out you have what is actually a tame cat, then we'll need to do a little brainstorming...

Catman,
I read your post yesterday and was at a loss for words/advice. Truly understand your dilemma and concern.
You have a good heart to be so worried about this little one. After reading everyone's thoughts, I think I would try to trap it and take it to the animal shelter for an evaluation.
Please keep us posted.

Here's what's happening. I've been in touch with the Humane Society, and Monday I'll borrow a trap. I'm going to leave some food out tonight under my picnic table,I need the cat to enter the trap where I can keep an eye on it. If I can get it acclimated to my lot, I'll get the trap on Monday. Assuming I can catch it, I'll take it to my vet for an evaluation. Some sort of decision will be made then. I wish to hell people would be responsible with their animals.

I set out cat food last night, it was gone this morning. This evening I was having dinner and saw kitty a couple hundred feet away sitting. I got up,put some more cat food in the bowl and took it outside, set it on the picnic table bench. Kitty waited a few minutes, then eased on up my way, but across the drive. Sat down a minute by my car, then came over to the table, hopped up and chowed down. I only put a tablespoon down, it's SO skinny, I don't want it to eat and make itself sick. It's left back paw has a couple of dark spots, maybe scabs, the foot is swollen. After eating, it remained on the bench, and bathed. When done, it looked up at me and made eye contact. Didn't look frightened at all. it hopped down, walked across my patio and went under my mh. I went out to retrieve the bowl and when I turned back around, kitty was sitting under my step. I said "hello kitty" in soft voice and it made no effort to run off. I guess I'll go get that trap tomorrow..It's good it still has an appetite and is grooming.

Awwa I hope you are able to help him, he sounds very sweet. Probably after a few days it sounds like he might trust you enough to get closed to him.

That's no feral cat...sounds like a dumped stray. Best of luck, Catman.
Suggestion: put out a bowl of water for the cat...it might work as well as food.
