When dry camping, how long can you go with two people before your black water tank is full? I know there are a lot of variables, but I'm looking for estimates.

If you are using the proper ammount of water it will take about 1 to 1 1/2 gallons per flush. You can figure from there.

Hi,
For us, two adults, we can go 6 days on our 24 gallon black water tank. That's with no use of any facilities.

We use a lot less then a gal per flush. We use about 2 - 3 gal per day per person. 40gal/4gal/day = 10 days. But will vary per user. These numbers are just the way we do it. And we use less when conserving out in the boonies.

How does how long I can go help you? My black tank is 50 plus gallons.
How large is your tank? Previous poster has it about right, about a gallon per flush for #2. Less for #1. For the two of us, that's over 2 weeks.

I think we use a little less per flush.

Since we boondock only, our toilet water supply is turned off. We flush with a brass conical nozzle attached to a kitchen sprayer head. The ID of the nozzle is restricted with a bush of hobby shop brass tubing to reduce volume and increase velocity.

A one-second squirt uses 2.1 ounces, but we usually use a series of itty bitty bursts, as the initial pressure is a trifle higher.

Once a week or so, I spray the bowl with silicone spray to keep it slippy-slidey, so it stays clean.

Add this to a 50 gallon black tank, and we can go for a very long time.

Thanks for the responses. We have a 40 gal tank and I was guessing we could last 6-10 days. Grey water from showers will be the first to fill...since we atv daily short washdowns will be required.

I gather that going two weeks on a 40-50 gallon black water tank is not impossible if one is conservative with their resources. Correct?
