It will work for my needs, but was hoping that adding the SPP6 would allow me to start in Auto-Idle mode.

I think that was an unrealistic expectation.

inverter generators simply to do not have the MASS to carry the start up surge of 50+ amps spike, when running at low IDLE under "econ" mode or "auto-idle" mode as Lifan calls it

running the A/C with inverter gennies has been discussed many times. econ/idle mode rarely works and when it does it with is VERY specific models like the yammy 2600? with built in boost

I ran the generator all afternoon. It ran just over 5 hours on one tank. The compressor was running nearly the entire time, so it had a good size load on it. It cycled a few times, and only had an issue starting the compressor back up, one time, which I think was right after it shut off.

I think I'm going to plan to run it in Auto-Idle mode when I know the compressor wont be shutting on/off, to conserve fuel and volume.

I think eventually, I'll get a second, probably 2200KW to add in parallel, but for this trip, this one should work perfectly.

Electric start is great, and so are the wheels.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for all the postings. I've written to Home Depot to ask for the correct dimensions on the 2200 watt unit--which is still larger than the 1000 to 1200 watts I'd prefer--but I'll not do without electric start (at -30 one needs it).

The 3300W is rated at 3000W continuous. You can't get 30A out of 3000 Watts @ 120V. Hence the 20A receptacles.
Just because it isn't producing the full 30 amps is no reason not to put on a 30 amp receptacle. I think that would be a deal breaker for me, as I don't need to deal with needing an adapter every time I want power. Thats just me, YMMV

pianotuna,

I'd suggest you call the folks at http://www.lifanpowerusa.com/, rather than Home Depot. They were very responsive and helpful to me. Home Depot just drop ships the generators right from the Lifan Warehouse in Arkansas, and weren't able to tell me more than was on the Home Depot website.

I wonder if there is any way to add remote start to these? Looks pretty good to me and I am glad we have had a successful report so far.

but you can get 25amps and therefore a 30amp rated receptacle would be allowed just like on a lot of 3000watt gensets.

Whatever happened to good inverters like the Trace? Many trace inverters would go into battery charging mode when a generator was started. But all the while it was monitoring incoming AC line power from the generator. If a large load came on line, like a roof air starting up, the generator would cease to charge the batteries, parallel to the generator's power and PUSH the AC voltage to maintain voltage until the load started up and then once started reverted back to battery charging mode --- all done automatically, you never knew a thing. This thing would work on campground power, didn't matter.

Hi mexbungalows,

I sure wish I could find an inverter similar to the trace you mention. It sounds much more useful than an autoformer.
