I probably would have done the same thing you did. I find that unnecessary confrontations (especially when you were able to set up in the next site with no trouble) just raise my stress level and pretty much ruin the entire trip for me so I go with the flow so to speak to a point. Now if the other available sites had been bad sites, I would have had a discussion with the management about the fact I specifically reserved that site.

Seems to me that you helped them enough. By leaving your space with no discussion, and letting them move in there. Sure you could have got into a discussion, and that would have eaten at both parties the whole time there. They were obviously inexperienced. And maybe frustrated. Haven't we all been there once?

They are still struggling with their level, the slides came out part way but now won't move. If this was a normal camper I'd offer help and give him some of my spare blocks but after our greeting I decided against it.

What goes around comes around I suppose. Now off to nap in the chair while I watch them out the window, another 6 hours tomorrow

Like the old saying goes "idiots are legion and vocal". I think they got what was coming to them and would have laughed myself silly while I watched them struggle. Don't get me wrong, I can be a very nice guy, but when dealing with people like that, oh yea, it's game on.

Had two sites reserved for the weekend a couple of years ago and when we arrived one spot had a TT set up in it. The guy came out and said there was no card in the post when he got there so he took it. Besides that, the camper was his brothers and he went back home, so he didn't have any way to move it. The Park Ranger said he was in luck, they had a way to move it and they did. The guy was steamed and said he didn't want a prime spot anyway.
After we had gotten set up a lady across the road came over and said that when that bozo arrived he asked the guy with him if that card meant that the site was taken and the other guy said it was and bozo took the card out and tore it up and said it's now open, pull her in.
I was wishing I had known about that earlier, but his new 'prime spot' was now in the timber away from the lake (and us). That was OK by me.

Some folk's shouldn't drink.

After 9 hours in traffic I would be just about ready for a fight. Sounds like they got just what they deserved! I probably would have rolled out the awning and set up a lounge chair and watched them try to level the RV, with a big smile on my face and a cold beer in my hand. LOL

Too hot out and I broke the awning in the traffic... I refuse to get mad at myself about that till I get home.... whacked one of those orange fake barrels that wasn't in line with the rest *grrrr*

Glad to see that I'm not the only that has done that.. Flinched as a Fed-Ex truck, triple trailer, passed me in a construction zone,I was doing 40 and he must have been doing around 60,and popped one of those barrels, but didn't see the leg hanging out till a couple of miles down the road..

Vacations are too short to spend in a foul mood or arguments with jerks.

Besides, refusing to let someone else push your button is the best revenge of all...

This is so true. That is why when someone waves at me in traffic with the one finger wave, I just smile and wave back (with all fingers of course) at them. The reaction is usually very amusing. So I get the double benefit of pushing their buttons even more and amusing myself.

We recently had an experience with neighbors who hadn't leveled their 5er correctly, couldn't understand why the fridge wasn't cooling yet. I offered to demonstrate using a contractor's level on the floor inside, rather than on an outside line that wasn't sure to be straight. The family admitted they had up-graded from a TT to the 5er, and the introductory "tour" had been so rushed they had missed most of it. After offering a few more helpful suggestions to his questions, the DH began to appear more and more frustrated with everyone, including me. I backed off and left them to their own devices. My DW commented that this was definitely someone who wasn't going to accept help, and really needed it.

The next day, we managed to renew our conversations on a more pleasant note. He apolgized for the way he passed of my efforts to help and went on to explain. Found out he was an Iraqi War vet, who actually missed the time he served with his buddies and their units. He had been forced by DW and in-laws to take Honorable Discharge 1 1/2 years shy of the full 20-year career. Wife insisted they needed a bigger 5er, and obviously the bigger truck as TV, so they could take the DD to her frequent girls' softball tournaments. Not only did the in-laws travel everywhere with them, they lived in the same house! The DW spent all her time with her mother, never appeared to engage in conversation or spend time with the poor guy. This fellow was trapped in a family situation where the vacation was no relaxation for him. Over the next few days he spent some quality "guy" time engaged in coversation with my DW and me, someone who would actually "listen" and value what he had to say. This drove home the realization that we don't have a clue as to what goes on in the lives of our neighbors at the CG. We shouldn't always be locked in on our first impressions, without giving a second look when a person begins to open up.

I agree with poster "Alan Hepburn"....the more expensive the rig--the more obnoxious the owners

Try Airstream owners; I thought class A motorhome owners took the prize, but the Airstream owners are old + obnoxious.

I am old also.

We've made some very close friends in the past couple of weeks.

Although they at first appeared to be complete bozos taking two hours to back in a 5er, they took it all in stride, complete with about six stupidvisors.

Turns out we're probably second cousins or something; our end of the CG is now "Hicks Holler."

You never know...
