Actually it is the wife truck and she took it in because the egr cooler was starting to leak, the dealer replaced the egr cooler, oil cooler, egr vavle, headgaskets and injectors after they had it,so the truck went 98,000 before any work was done to it, we operate in the most severe service that you can imagine ,i did not mention that our undercarriages on our dozers last only 2000 hours ,and our trucks only get at best 1.5 mpg and usually are in the 1 mpg range, our budget is 500,000 a year

25K miles on my 06 with no real issues. Had a turbo replaced (under warranty) but I'm not really sure why it was the turbo (no symptoms other than a CEL, it never left me stranded or even hiccuped, but when I took it in for service they replaced the turbo...*shrug*). No oil leaks, no issues whatsoever. Very happy with the truck...best I ever owned bar none.

Maybe I expect too much, but I just don't understand posts like this?
You had a turbo go out(a major engine part)in less than 25 thousand miles and you say you had no real issues with your truck?

Geesus, what was the worst truck you have ever owned pray tell; and what went wrong with it?

Call me crazy but when I hit the key on my truck, tractor, harvester, quad, car or whatever, I expect it to run. I don't need EGR cooler problems, headgasket problems, turbo sticking problems or any other problem. My business and vacation depends on it.

Reason why the turbo was replaced was because of Lack of exercise. (06 with 25k miles) The 6.0 cant just sit around unused. It will develop rust in the turbo and cause the unison ring to stick. Many dealerships would just remove the turbo and clean it, you had a nice dealership that just gave you a brand new turbo.

Exercise that beast, give it a coolant filter, and monitor oil and coolant temps.

the turbo will rust.. thats a novel idea

a 5 year old truck with 25k hardly sits unused.
sounds like 5000 miles per year or about 100 miles per week use.
