25K miles on my 06 with no real issues. Had a turbo replaced (under warranty) but I'm not really sure why it was the turbo (no symptoms other than a CEL, it never left me stranded or even hiccuped, but when I took it in for service they replaced the turbo...*shrug*). No oil leaks, no issues whatsoever. Very happy with the truck...best I ever owned bar none.

Maybe I expect too much, but I just don't understand posts like this?
You had a turbo go out(a major engine part)in less than 25 thousand miles and you say you had no real issues with your truck?

You had a turbo go out(a major engine part)in less than 25 thousand miles and you say this is the best truck you have ever owned?
Geesus, what was the worst truck you have ever owned pray tell; and what went wrong with it?

Call me crazy but when I hit the key on my truck, tractor, harvester, quad, car or whatever, I expect it to run. I don't need EGR cooler problems, headgasket problems, turbo sticking problems or any other problem. My business and vacation depends on it.

I have a 2006 F250 with the 6.0 PSD. My problem is with the turbo and getting a check engine light because of lack of turbo boast. I've brought it back to the dealer around five times. They rebuilt my turbo and did other things but last weekend while towing my trailer the light came on again. The dealer said it was a memory code, something about an old code it was remembering. They said they checked everything out and all was good. The truck only has 54000 mile on it but about to run out of warrenty because of years, it was put in service 10/05. Anybody else out there having this problem with their 6.0 and turbo?

Sounds you like you need to find another dealership with better techs.

There are some great techs that will solve the problem.

There are some great 6.0 diesel engines.

There are some happy 6.0 diesel owners!
I love mine!

i have a 2005 6.0 it has had an oil cooler , egr cooler, 4 injectors, egr valve, and head gaskets put on it at 98,000 miles all under warranty, i think that is doing real well, i manage a small fleet of trucks and heavy equipment that is used in the most severe way possible, how about a cat, mack, mercedes and a cummins all fail before they had 2000 miles on them? i see so many failures of egr coolers now that its common place to me , they all break, some more so than others but they still will break

No, I said I had a CEL, and the dealer replaced the Turbo when I took it in for the CEL. It drove/ran/started/stopped just fine...no drivability issues whatsoever, just a light on the dash. Didn't cost me a penny, and they "comped" me an oil change.

OK, "You are crazy"...read the post more carefully next time before you get on a rant. The truck ran/runs great.

Have a wonderful day.

So are you saying that Ford is in the habit of replacing turbo's just for the fun of it?
Why do you think Ford replaced the turbo? Why do you think they have a CEL light on the dash?

I reason is; 90% of the people that drive do not have a clue when something is wrong with their drive train. The CEL gives them a clue to take their truck in because SOMETHING IS WRONG!! In your case, you had a bad turbo.

Sorry you took my post as a rant. But myself and Ford disagreed with you; your truck did not run great. Remember, the turbo was bad.

I am glad you got a free oil change out of the deal though. Good for you for that killer deal.

Cabo hit the nail on the head. Find a dealership with a competent 6.0 technician. You are getting too close to end of warranty for the "throw parts and pray" tech. When I read the many posts about guys who have had numerous turbo's, egr coolers, head gasket repairs done on their truck I shudder. This is always a poor tech issue. The information is out there. The tech needs to know it.

Wow....three pages of post, best I ever got. Thanks for all the info guys. I call Fords and complained but they told me tough try another dealer and to get extended warrenty. I also emailed them and got a reply that they are looking into it, we'll see how far that goes. I was even looking into getting rid of the truck for a newer one but seems the 6.4 has problems of it's own and as far as the 2011, the prices are way out of my price range. Guess I'm stuck with what I have, extended warrenty and hope for the best for the next two years.

Are you kidding, or do you really think replacing an "oil cooler, egr cooler, 4 injectors, egr valve, and head gaskets" in 98,000 miles is doing "real well"? I have a buddy with a 2003 Cummins he hasn't had to do any of those things in over 110,000 miles. He is a plumber, and that truck is hauling stuff daily. He put some ball joints in the front end at 100,000 miles, and that's it. The engine and transmission remain untouched other than fluid and filter changes.

Maybe I'm like Turtle N Peeps, and I expect too much, but if any vehicle of mine ever needed a list of repairs like you mentioned, I'd be on here telling everyone how disappointed I was by the lack of reliability.

yes i think that i have had good service out of my engine, all the work was scheduled on the engine, have you buddy bring his cummins powered truck out to my work and we will see how long it runs be fore it breaks, out of 5 ISL cummins engines all have failed under 75000 miles, 7 2007 mercedes engines all have had egr coolers replaced every 6 months and 1 had total engine failure at 1500 miles, 15 cat c7 engines 1 to fail at 7000 mile mark ,10 for hui pumps and injectors , 15 mack E 7 engines, 2 oil screens break and suck the debris into the oil pumps and lock up the engines, 4 for camshafts , 1 3412 cat engine 12 injectors , hui pump, head gaskets, turbos at the 4000 hour mark, 3 b series cummins 4 cylinder engines on water pumps, 1 broke a piston sending the #4 rod out the block causing a fire that destroyed the pump, so i see what happens when you lean on engines hard and ask for 100% from them all the time, they will break, dont care what name is on them they will still break, don't get me started on the allisons either they break in half, while i am ranting and raving , we have a 2004 6.0 in an F450 4X4 that we drag 60,000 pound trucks around with and it has not gave any problems

I'm having trouble with a couple things in the above post.

First of all, does Ford really have a "schedule" that calls for egr coolers, head gaskets, injectors, and all that other stuff for routine replacement? Is that really in the owner's manual somewhere?

Also, where ever it is steve n vicki works, they must have an enormous budget set aside for repairs from the employees who routinely break the equipment. I'm surprised they can stay in business and fix all those alleged problems.

Again, like I said before, maybe I expect too much. I just wouldn't be happy with that many repairs on a truck with only 98,000 miles on it. Cummins engines typically last much longer than that before needing a major repair. Heck, most all good engines, including gas burners can last much longer than 98,000 miles before needing major repair.

Last question, this 6.0L PSD truck you mention needing these major repairs at 98,000 miles. Do you use it at this place of work you mention that is apparently so hard on equipment? Or is it your personal truck?
