I have a 2006 F250 with the 6.0 PSD. My problem is with the turbo and getting a check engine light because of lack of turbo boast. I've brought it back to the dealer around five times. They rebuilt my turbo and did other things but last weekend while towing my trailer the light came on again. The dealer said it was a memory code, something about an old code it was remembering. They said they checked everything out and all was good. The truck only has 54000 mile on it but about to run out of warrenty because of years, it was put in service 10/05. Anybody else out there having this problem with their 6.0 and turbo?

I don't have one, but my brother did.
He had so many problems with his 6.0 that he decided that if he couldn't sell it, he was going to give it away or just push it off a cliff to put himself out of his misery.

If you Goggle "problems with Ford 6.0 diesel," you will get a lifetime of reading.

Sorry to hear this, and good luck with it all.

Here we go again!

Glenn Ray of the Ford Motor Company says 16,000 of the then new 6.0 Diesel engine were sold the first month after it was introduced. Ford ended up buying back 500 0f them. A total of over 100,000 of the 6.0 diesels were sold in total. Ford says thet the issues were confined to the 6.0 engines built and installed in the 1st 5 months of production, with faulty fuel injectors made by Siemens VDO Automotive and International and computer engine program glitches the main issues, due to the complexity of this all new engine.

I suppose when you build and sell more diesel pickup trucks that all the other guys (GMC, Dodge and Chevy) combined....the dreaded "Powerstroke Envy" kicks in!

I'm curious to see what the nay-sayers will end up saying about the all new 6.7 PSD? Unfair competition? Boo-Hoo!

I appreciate your loyality..but "Ford says this, Ford says that." Bottom line is that lots of folks (my brother included) had LOTS of problems with their early 6.0's. "Here we go again'" is exactly what I heard from him over and over.
It was not a successful or reliable motor for Ford.

In no way am I trying to start anything or fuel any fires.
The 2011 Powerstroke looks like a great truck and IF I had to replace our truck, the Ford would by my first shopping stop.

You might check into the extended warranty. Sorry for your trouble but you are not alone. Do somed research and you will find your answers. Happy camping, John

That is about the ONLY problem I haven't had with mine. The engine is junk.

Try ford-trucks.com or thedieselstop.com for better results.

You might get some insight here but most likely, this thread will get hijacked about "how terrible this engine is". This will primarily come from people who drive other brands, people who "know someone who had problems", and 6.0 owners who've had one or two issues covered under warranty.

Yes, some here have had some real problems but my 6.0 was the most dependable engine I ever had. No turbo issues here.

Hope it works out for you.
