Once it's on, it's on. Doesn't require any more current to run it with thermostat set to 65 vs 75. It will obviously run longer if set at 65 but once it kicks on the current draw is the same regardless of thermostat setting.

I think the price tag is a bit high but it is exactly what you are asking for
Of course the home made version up-thread works too.
My home made version is different,,, easier to build,,, and is currently powering my water hose de-icer.

I wired my 1997 winnie adventurer just like chaffee kid did. I plugged in an extension cord to 20 amp side and tried to run rear or front air conditioner as the selector switch was selected. neither would run. all i heard was a click of thermostst. I thought maybe the problem was that I didnt have 30amp shore power plugged in. can someone verify yes or no about shore power as the cause.

I've got a 96 Itasca Suncruiser, 30amp system but my front/rear a/c switch was missing when I bought it 2 yrs ago. PO took out the switch and just wired the front and rear a/c's together so no matter if I'm on generator or shore power, I can run ether one without a switch. What I'm going to do here in the next couple of weeks is to re-wire mine some what the same way that chaffee kid did except that I'm installing a 50amp auto switching unit so I can just have a 50amp cord instead of a 30amp and a 20amp cord connecting up to shore power. When I unhook the a/c wires from each other up where the switch used to be, the a/c's will be completely on their own circuits.

Other than the obvious "are you sure the wires you used to make the plug (20A side) were both for the same AC unit", I have absolutely no idea.

i did this wiring bypass in my 1997 winnie and it worked fine at disney campground where they had a standerd 20 amp receptacle, but anywhere that has gfci receptacles it trips the gfci. Is there any way to get around this problem?

yes they are for the rear air. i think the problem might be the jumpering of all grounds and jumpering of all commons which would be for both airconditioners and at the shore pole the gfci sees a fault. when i plug the 20 amp cord into my gfci at home it doesnt trip, but the 30 amo isnt plugged in.

Get a 50/30 adapter and plug the coach normal 30 amp cord into the 50/30 adapter at the pedistal.
Then you can use the 30 amp pedistal outlet to plug in your 20 amp service using a homemade 30/20 amp adapter. I have been using this for two years (full time) and everything works great. I did build a 50 to two 30's adapter (50amp male plug to two 30amp female receptials). This is very convient where a park says you can only run a single cord to the pedistal. The 50 amp is in reality two 50 amp circuits so there is no concern about overloading the 50 amp receptical. This way you only have one power cord attached to the parks pedistal, and you have two 30 amp recepticals to plug your coach's plugs into.
