Maybe a stupid question, but when you tow a dinghy, does the mileage on the dinghy climb? I assume it does since all 4 wheels are down. I'm getting ready to setup a Honda CR-V for towing, and was curious.
Thanks.

It really depends on the 'toad'. Some do , some don't. The Honda CR-V I believe does NOT, but you may have to remove a fuse. Whoever you have do your hitch, should know for sure.
My PT curiser does NOT accumalate mileage , while being towed.

If the tow preparation procedure as provided by Honda is followed, then no, it does not rack up miles on the odometer when it's being towed.

The CRV does not run up mileage when you tow, no fuses to pull. I have towed my CRV over 40,000 miles and have driven it only 38,000 miles. So my engine only has 38,000 miles on it but the transmission, diffferential, and tires all have 78,000 miles on them. The Odometer only shows 38,000. A few years ago I towed a 1989 Honda Accord, manual transmission and the odometer regestered every mile while being towed, which added a lot of miles. SO if it is a CRV, you should be good to go, but there are probably many other cars that Do record the miles. SO it is good that you were specific when you asked this question and I think you will find CRV owners that will also reply that no mileage will be recorded when you tow a CRV

Yeah, I thought about that.
Sounds like my '07 CRV won't. I'll double check the owners manual, and I guess I'll find out soon enough when I try it for the first time. Thanks for all the responses.

Just as a reminder, keep a log of the miles towed and do your transmission maintenace (Fluid changes) based on the miles towed added to the miles driven. Also the diffferential fluid change, and the same way with tire rotation if you believe in rotation.
