Yes, it ran your A/C....But was it getting enough power to run it properly? It may burnout prematurely.

Thanks all for the kind words. My goal was to educate and not to pontificate. I understand very well the reasoning for buying the cheapo Chinese knock-offs. I DO understand that sometimes you have to buy what you can afford instead of what you want. I just wish that I knew then what I know now

And this is what makes your post refreshingly different…

BTW: I think the Champion inverter is still due out this August… I am betting it will be a good unit, I kike the stackable design and that two can be teamed together…

Hondas legendary reputation and quality is well known and they really sell themselves…

However I do believe the are still overpriced even though they have come down in price…

I also believe the competition is catching up to them and will force their prices lower yet… one reason I am hoping Champion comes through and delivers…

And your DW sat by quietly during this extensive learning process? You're a lucky man!

I wouldn't know if my wife sat by quietly or not. I couldn't hear her complaints over the buzz of my other loud generators anyway

"She Who Must be Obeyed" forwarded it to me with instuctions to read it. Also I consumed 4 pints of coffee and my favorite additive while reading it.

My wife is a mobile groomer. I put a contractor grade 8500 watt generator on her van. It's loud. But, she needs the wattage to run the Carrier AC and the 2600 watt hair dryer. I would love to have gotten a Honda generator but they wanted $4,000.00+ for 6000 watts.

When I was in Cherokee last summer I was eating breakfast at Peters. A truck pulling a travel trailer pulled up across the street. They had mounted a contractor grade gen pack to the rear bumper of the trailer. It was running (to run the AC I suppose). It was loud but, really not that bad. Surely not to be used in a campground. But, I thought it was a good idea for being on the road. Generators really make life easy. Hopefully one day the cheaper gen packs will quiet down some.

Isn't that interesting about the Honda "Handi" being so much louder than the regular version. And it's a huge difference - the handi is 2600W rated and 65dB, while the regular version is 2800W rated and 58dB, for a 7dB difference, that is 4 times as loud!

Think about this - if you'd bought the Honda the first time, you'd have saved enough money NOT buying the others that it would have been FREE!

I have a older Honda EU2000i that won't start my new AC, and a Yamaha EF3000iSEB with boost that will, best of both worlds.

What size is your new AC?

I am always amazed at the different results posters have on this. My older 2000 starts either of my 1984 13.5 Colemans both on Eco and non-Eco. No hard start kits or anything. It starts quicker on non-eco, of course, because there is no spoolup. I only did it on Eco for a curiosity thing.
