A debit card is not the same as a credit card even if you run it as a "credit" purchase. By choosing "credit" you are telling the system to expect a signature based transaction rather than a PIN based transaction. (It does matter to the merchant as their fees may be based on the type of transaction.) Either way you decide the funds will be pulled straight from your checking account, not "charged" as on your credit card. If you want to better protect yourself from fraudulent transactions when purchasing online it's best is to use a credit card or perhaps PayPal.

Actually it is real easy to write web page code that WILL send the credit card number, or any other text, without pressing an accept button.
