That no one has been injured or killed by this does not surprise me at all.

A vehicle that won't stop (Can you say TOYOTA) is a danger to all
A vehicle that won't go (Workhorse) is safe.

I would think a sudden stop in traffic would be a bit dangerous.

Some owners have reported brake pedal going to the floor, thats dangerous anywhere. We are long over due for a fix on these things.

I did have one. 04 Pace Arrow. 35000 miles and 4 total brake failures I decided my life was more important and I would not be able to live with the thought of someone getting hurt or killed because I kept driving this thing. No repair date insight so time to get rid of it. I am glad to know alot of people have had no problems with this chassis but alot have. I lost a lot of money on it and loved the coach, but will NEVER own another WH product because of the way this was handled and the people that have been put at risk.

The dealer told me today that Bosch has gone bankrupt and that Workhorse is doing the recall as a good will gesture. Is that true?

We are so screwed....

Yup we would be for awhile. If thats true we will have to find a sourse for a replacement piston for our calipers! There is hope though, they tried to cause or force a brake failure on a re-designed caliper piston and new rotor here test piston but could not get it to fail even at 500*. This may be the only way out if Bosch does go "belly up"

As I understand it the "main" problem is the piston in the caliper can absorb water, which makes it expand and stick in the caliper. Thats the "wont go" issue. I would say that the pedal to the floor is the result of the sticking and then the brake fluid boils. Thats why the pedal goes to the floor, from the air pocket created from the boil.

The only cure is a smaller piston with more clearance for expansion and I believe thats what is being made for the replacement.

If you google "bosch bankrupt"...you get...

NADA, zip, nuttin.

The chances of a dealer/shop owner here in the states having inside knowledge about Bosch's financial plans?...Nil.

Put me in the same category as you. I put 9,000 + miles on my 2004 Newmar W22 traveled from Boston to Seattle by way of the Canadian Rockies, towing a Jeep Liberty with absolutely no problem. Maybe I was just lucky?

On this forum, the people that complain about the WH brake problems the most, and seem to consider themselves an expert, are non-owners of the affected chassis. Those that do own them, like me, and have not had any problems at all after 40,000+ miles, have nothing to complain about. We just use the coach and enjoy it.

I know with Ford I can go to a lot of parts stores and get brake parts, why not with WH brakes? Know one else can make the brake parts?

You can with WH too, just cant use W22 as your vehicle. There are lots of truck chassis' that have the same brakes.

Just went to the Bosch web pages and looked up corporate ownership and found no mention of any bankruptcy. Not likely they would hide such information from the public. Great way to start scare rumors.

Still waiting for my new brake calipers.
