I scale in at 220 and have no problems on the roof....I just try to stay as close to the supports and as far away from the vents and roof protrusions (power vent covers, a/c, etc) wherever my weight may compromise a sealing situation....no sense cracking a good caulk job...IMHO, of course

I walk around on the roof of mine all the time, and I tip the scales @ 240 pounds. Something that I noticed with mine from installing the satellite dish, is that I have 3/4" plywood under the membrane. That's the same stuff that builders use for the subfloor on your house if you have multiple floors, a crawlspace, or basement. My main fear would be losing ones balance and falling off, not going through the roof.

At 360 lbs I would not get up on that roof without laying plywood down. And if your roof is like mine that may not be possible. I have a section mid coach that is cobbled up with cut outs etc that is hard to walk through and I question the strength. In this section there is an AC, three vents, solar pannel, fridge vent, wind sensor, and tank vent. The falling off risk is very real.

However, I'm worried about the roof's ability to support me (I'm about 360 lbs) while up there. Any one else ever tried that? Should I lay down a sheet or plywood to crawl on first?
I have a ladder that would get me up to the rooftop (I'd not use the ladder on the back of the motorhome).
Am I being overly cautious??
What kind of roof do you have?
I am in your weight class. I have been on my roof for maintanance many times. I don't have goom for a sheet of plywood because of all the stuff up there. I installed solar up there all by myself with no problems ever. I got a aluminum roof. If it is fiberglass I would be concerned about cracking and use something for weight distribution.
I have been walking and after waxing and polishing crawling (got a bit scare because it got slippery) with no worries.
I had a rubber roof on my previous camper was up there regularely too with no prtoblem.

I (220 lbs.) climb up on mine all the time, but it's the ladder that scares me, not the roof! But -- I can park mine in the driveway, and get a great view of the roof from the second-floor bedroom window. Any chance you can do something like that, combined with having the teenager doing the actual climbing?

360 Lbs is nothing compared to the snow that was on the roof of mine last winter.
About two feet of heavy snow and it did not sag any.

Find a skinny friend. Thats what a friend of mine does and he is a big boy too. Just calls me or another skinny friend and asks for a hand. We just make him pay back the helping hand with our own needs closer to the ground.

270 pound here! I use the RV's ladder all the time. I have soft spots on my fiberglass roof and still no problems. I may be pushing my luck with RV ladder but the roof seems to be fine.
Think of it this way: Your A/C unit is 100 pounds but that weight get multiplied every time you hit bumps in the road, yet it never comes crashing down on top of you. I may have just tempted fate with that statement

I'm not exactly a Petit myself, and I have been on my roof, BUT (and the is a Capitol But", I have learned from past experience that fat people like me don't bounce, so I get one of the kids to go on the roof now.
