First and foremost, I've read through many threads but my question is a bit different...
Did you use the KOA's pools and other amenities enough during your stay to make the large price difference ($300) worth it to you? My kids will be 3 and 6 at the time of the trip.

When is your trip? How long do you plan to stay at one park? $300 is a big difference in price. What activities are you planning while in the area - how busy you will be sightseeing might influence how much time you will be at the park and have time for swimming etc. There are several parks besides the KOA on the Canadian side - no provincial parks really close. On the US side is Four Mile Creek State Park which is close but no swimming except in Lake Ontario and no full hookups.

Yes. Plus the 50 amp service and sewer at my site, and water at my site, and a pull thru and level. Worth every penny.
A KOA is like a McDonalds it isn't the best but you know what you are going to get.

For that age about 1 hour overlooking the Falls should be enough. Then it's back to the pool for real fun!
We are two seniors and two hours was enough for us. Didn't make the Maid of the Mist boat trip.

Why bother asking what others did? No way you can rationalize their decisions with yours. Different rigs, different preferences, different budgets, etc., etc., etc.
Make your own choice based on your situation & preferences. Like Dick B said, an hour at the falls will be enough for 2 kids. After that, a pool & simply camping should keep them happily occupied, at least for a couple of days.

Oops, I meant to say the $300 difference was based on 5 nights.
Having never been to Niagara Falls, I'm not sure what to expect on many levels. I'm hoping to hear what people with kids or grandkids felt about their stay at the KOA. I've stayed at KOA's before and know what to expect at the CG which is why I'm considering it. My concern is that I pay for it and then not use it... IT meaning the amenities the kids would enjoy: pools, activities, playground, etc.
I figured we'd spend some time just looking at the falls during the day and then again at night, do the boat tour, spend some time hiking in the area, and probably check out some of the tourist traps and shops.
This forum is based on opinions - I return here on a regular basis because I trust the members' opinions. I've booked dozens of camping trips based on the members' pictures and opinions. I can open any CG review website or book and read about the CGs in the area but I want to hear what you think. So again, did your family use the KOA's pools and other amenities enough during your stay to make the large price difference worth it to you?

Riverside and Jellystone get much better reviews than KOA (see rvparkreviews.com).

We just got back from that KOA a couple weeks ago. I have 2 older boys, one of which would be happy just hanging out inside the camper. Well, he (and his brother) was in the pool and on the bounce pillow a LOT. The campground was very nice, the staff was great.
We did the Maid of the Mist and the tourist thing -- the fireworks at night are worth the trip down.
We drove and paid the $10 to park --3x's but it was worth it. Drive down, park in the middle of the town there ... 5 minute walk to the falls and lots of other things to do and see.
My thought is the convenience of it all is well worth it. They have a nice campground there and lots for kids your age to do -- even during the week.

Yes. We go back yearly to KOA Lundy's Lane, for their amenities and the entire Niagara area.

We have two kids ages 9 and 11 and we'll stay at Four Mile Creek every time we go back to the Niagara Falls area. There is a pool at another state park just down the road you can use for a minimal fee - no fee to get into the park just maybe $3 to use the pool and it was HUGE with another pool with a slide for kids a little bit older. Not sure if your oldest would be tall enough. There's a playground at Four Mile Creek just nowhere to swim but we spent a lot of time in Niagara Falls and it was great not having to pay the $10 fee to park. I think we went down to the falls a lot more often because of that - we went in one night to see the fireworks and the Falls at night, another day we went to the US side and did the Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds, and another day we parked and walked over to the Canadian side ...I guess it really depends on how much time you think you'll spend at your camper - the sites at Four Mile Creek are HUGE so plenty of places to ride bikes, play with balls, etc ... if your kids will be okay with not swimming all of the time I think you'd be happy there
