We drove to Huntsville,Al.to the Apple store to buy the iPad. The sales person told us that they were are sold out of all the iPads but gave us the address to Mac Resources and Best Buy. We called Best Buy and they said they only had one iPad of any kind in the store. It was the 64 wifi 3g. So we drove to Mac Resources and they had two 34 wifi 3g's left in the store so we bought one of them for $ 729.00 plus tax. This was on June 18,2010 and the sales clerk hooked my iPad up to his Apple desktop so I could get AT&T coverage. AT&T let me sign up for unlimited coverage for $ 29.99 a month.
We are in a remote area of Alabama but are able to get on line with edge network but it is slowwww. When we drove to town and were in a 3g area it works great. We are real pleased with the iPAd. My wife is hogging it.lol

I too love mine although I do not have the 3g. I do have an iphone and know the difference in speed between the 3g and edge but still nice to have any coverage. I use a verizon air stick in a cradlepoint router when traveling and it works great with the ipad. I really like how quickly and automatically the ipad connects to networks it knows from past experience. Enjoy.

Roadpilot, Did you have verizon aircard or stick before moving to the mifi? Just wondering if the mifi has greater power. I have been keeping my air stick because I can hook an antenna to it. Wondering if it is really necessary.

I haven't noticed any speed difference between the Verizon stick and the MIFI. But in our travels we haven't found an area of a weak signal to where the antenna was needed. The antenna port is probably the only plus between the MiFi and the stick and the wireless provision for up to 5 computers on the MiFi is be only benefit of the MiFi over the stick.

I use my iPad with my Palm Pre's WiFi hotspot on Verizon. No extra cost on Verizon using the Palm Pre hotspot feature. Works great.

Hi all,
I ordered my ipad yesterday. Should get it in a couple of weeks. How do I go about setting up my RV so I can use wifi for the ipad?
I want to get an external antenna, probably something like the 'yagi'. Do I have to hook this antenna up to a wireless router or what? If so, what kind of router do I need to get?
I am sort of challanged in this techi stuff. Any help you all could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Something like what is discussed in this thread should work for you: DIY WiFi Repeater
