Hi mexbungalows,

For once, I don't agree with you. I just think of the gulf oil spill and the associated costs of clean up. It does make solar power, which tends to pollute only once, very attractive.

BPI has put aside 20 billion dollars for the cleanup. That would buy a whole bunch of solar panels @ $2.50 per watt. (8 million watts)

If I compare running a 7500 watt generator to 1200 watts of solar the costs of ownership are fairly favorable, too.

I'm "in love" with the new Honeywell Wind Turbine that starts producing power in 2 mph wind. If they ever make a 1/2 size unit I'll probably bite the bullet and get one for the RV.

I try and keep in mind the incredibly large bootprint cast when a solar voltaic panel is created (manufactured).

This sort of reminds me of trying to fit a 700 horsepower supercharged 12 cylinder motor into a single seat family car.

Might as well go all electric
Get a hott rod for the wh and 8 batteries and a pair of victron inverters, use 120v for everything

Options, always have options, and the journey goes much smoother

Hi,

Yes it is, until you have to change the oil in the generator, and get a tune up on the generator, and...

Batteries are not set and forget. I spend way more time tending to my batteries than I do my generators and my bank is only 3 group 27's. I have also ruined several shirts doing so.

Why not? That's precisely why I asked how much battery height he has. $2000+- is a lot of $, but we're discussing someone that want's to boondock, etc.

Yes six of those 1100 amp hr beauties would be just barely enough for 1200w of solar.
And with six 2volt you have no parallel balance issues.
