I've been thinking they might work really well for RVers because there wouldn't be any water in the freezer to spill while moving. I am just wondering if anyone uses them and how they like them.

Amazon has a bunch of different types like these:

Ice Cubes
or these:

Fruit Cubes

We bought a cube style a year ago. Both of us noticed a taste in water when using them. In flavored drinks the flavor covered up the odd taste. We finally tossed them in the trash and back to real ice again.

Been there, went back to frozen water.

We always make our own ice cubes in our home freezer (without the aid of an ice maker even though our fridge has an ice maker--it's not hooked up). We use the old fashion method of using ice cube trays that make larger cubes (they last longer). We just make up bags of cubes to fit into our 5th wheel freezer before leaving on a trip.

We also make ice blocks for times when we use a cooler for beverage storage. I use a tupperware bread storage box and fill it up with water and stick it in our large upright freezer in the garage. After running the box under the water the block drops out.

We didn't care for the "fake" ice cubes, either.

Oh man... I was hoping they didn't have a taste to them! We have a fairly small freezer - if we didn't we would do the frozen mug thing, but they would take up too much room.

We would get an ice maker, but we like to be flexible when we camp and that would give us one more reason to really want electric. No generator here.

I think I still might try one pack as they aren't that expensive and we usually just do without ice even though I use ice in my drinks all the time at home.

We use them to make ice packs but not in drinks. We put a bunch of the cubes into a bag and shape it to fit what hurts. The cubes conform to various body parts pretty well and do not get everything wet like real ice.
