Yes ... exactly what I was talking about.
That 9000 BTU one (830 watts) might operate off a Honda 1000 inverter generator - just a guess - but possibly. To be sure, some other 7000-8000 BTU model might be more insurance that a Honda 1000 could run it.
One of these might be an option if it turns out our Honda 2000 will not run the 13K roof air (have not had a chance to test it yet). Our trailer is only 22' so it would not take much to cool the interior. One of these portables would need to be small enough that it would fit under the dinette table to keep it out of the way.
I did pick up one of the fantastic vent portable 12V fans that CW had on sale and used it during our trip over the last couple of days. It works ok, pretty quite on low, but somewhat noisy on med and high, at least compared to our 110v roof fantastic fan.
The margin has to be big on this thing as there is just not much to it for what they are priced at. Never the less, it is what it is, and it did the job. We put it on the dinette table and opened the sliding window such that it could move some air through the rig somewhat like our roof fantastic fan does.

We do a lot of overnighting at Walmart, restops and truckstops when we are traveling to where we are going. The 12 volt fans work good and won't draw too much of your battery. I liked the idea of battery operated fans. We have 4 children and our 7 year old daughter is autistic. Battery operated toys keep her entertained, and us sane. We have bought a whole slew of rechargeable batteries. Today's rechargeable batteries are much better than they were 10 years ago. We recharge ours when we are on the road everytime that we charge the generator, or are hooked up to shore power.
When it is really hot and we are on the road, I drive until it has cooled off. Around 10 or 11 p.m. if it is possible. We make plenty of stops during the day so we accrue the most mileage in the morning and late in the evening. We then look to see where the big rigs park. They often run their trucks while they catch a few winks. The refrigerated rigs run a generator to keep their loads cool anyways. We have no problem starting up our generator next to one of these trucks or in between a couple of them. For this reason we often stop to fill up at truck stops. I always pay inside and ask if I can spend the night while I am paying. I think a lot of them have no problem with it. But filling up your tank and then asking to stay always makes it less awkward for me, and the station workers always seem happier to let you stay.
We stop at Walmart parking lots all the time. They are fine when temperatures are moderate, or cold. Most of the time though I don't feel comfortable running my generator in their parking lot.
One other thing to consider is outside noise. If it is hot and you have the windows open you will be hearing all the outside noise. I would rather park somewhere and listen to my generator with the windows closed rather than listen to the freeway or something else.

Staying cool in the summer is pretty easy. Camp at higher elevations and have multiple fantastic fans.

Was it their own generator?
