At Promisland State Park one loop has all blacktop sites. when it rains there are a thousand lakes..... I always stay in a gravel unlevel spot and don't need a raft to get to my car

All sites flat in South Louisiana... Just have to make sure landing gear doesn't punch hole in the ground and upset the water table!!

Leveling a site is a little more complicated than digging with a backhoe. A quarter inch slope per inch will make a 60 foot long site 15 inches higher at one end than the other. Erosion, settling, rutting etc occur constantly. A level site today, may be unlevel tommorrow. It takes constant work to keep sites acceptably level.

westernrvparkowner...I hope you didn't do the leveling on your sites. If I am doing the math correctly you would have a fifteen foot slope on a 60 foot long site. These sites would also be good for skiing during the winter months. I believe you meant to say "a quarter inch slope per foot..." That measuring stuff can be tricky at times.

Very easy question to answer, 90% of the time the low bidder gets the job.
Just like the sites that have the sewer at the back and power pedestal at the front, they were done by a contractor that knew nothing about rving.

In our park in Florida we had 35 new sites...all level...until Southwest Florida Water Management District came along and said we had to have somewhat of a swale in the back row. So those sites are level, the folks just step out into a drainage ditch.

Fast forward a year...SWFMD asks "why is that swale there?"

Your tax dollars at work.

"Rule of Thumb" . Outstretched arm. Thumb raised straight up. Sight along arm to thumb, level.

Just gotta hope the guy has all his thumbs and fingers.
