I've been in the RV lanes and the guy next to me was dumping his waste tanks and filling with fresh water. No fuel, No gas. He said he was getting ready for his weekend outing.
I filled up at a TA or maybe it was a Petro or Pilot.....anyways, when I went in to sign and get my receipt, they handed me a slip for a free shower. Not going to make use of the shower, but I can see them using this procedure to allow you to dump waste tanks free.
THis way they can assure that it is paying customers using the dump station.
BUT I will agree with the above poster on this point..... if I put in $300.00 or plus dollars worth of fuel, and they turn around and want to charge me to dump my tanks or to park in their parking lot for that matter.....that is the day I'll look for a different source for my fuel needs.

I just checked my Flying J loyalty account and found a $5 coupon in it labeled RV Dump. No instructions in the account that I could find on how it was earned, how it is used or where it can be used. I sent them an email to see if I can get any info. Will post if I get anything back.

The Flying J in Joplin is charging to dump now. I was through there last week and used it. It has a credit card reader or it said it would take tokens. I would imagine you purchase the tokens in the store, I just ran my card through dumped fueled and kept on movin along.

We have never used a dump station always use RV Parks. After seening some RVer's that were using Dump station I decided I wouldn't want to follow some of them. Just a hazzard waiting to happen. However I see no problem with anyone charging. Just my OPINION. Others how different OPINIONS. GBY........

Just after I purchased my motorhome, I took it to Flying J to fill the propane tank. Not knowing much about the protocol, I asked the attendant if they allowed RVs to park over night. He relied, and I quote, "Hell, we've got people that have been here for six months". I suspect they are charging now for dumping, due to the freeloaders that fill up the parking lot.

We were just at a Flying J on the south side of Indianapolis a few weeks ago. Stopped in on our way home from Spring Break in Florida to fill up with fuel and dump the coach. No charge there yet. But it would be worth five or ten dollars to me!

Well, if they do start charging, that will be final nail in the coffin for me for ever stopping there; after getting 75+ gallons of water/sludge in the rv islands while filling diesel fuel in Carlisle, PA, about two years ago, and their subsequent handling of the situation including the $3200+ repair bill that they did not want to pay or take responsibility for, the only thing Flying J's are good for is dumping black tanks at their facility.
They have also made some really bad decisions regarding purchasing raw crude oil and have lost millions of dollars on their poor decisions, so I would also guess that they are looking for other areas to turn into a profit center for themselves. Personally, not considering the bad fuel situation I had, some of their facilities are some of the worst fueling stations in this country.

Finished a 2000 mile trip in early April. Fueled exclusively at Flying J's the whole trip but didn't dump there. Took the MH to the local "J" last week to dump the remains of the trip, didn't need diesel they never said anything to me about a fee.
Will keep an eye open to it. Probably dump there 2-3 times a year. Have their loyalty card will look for free dumps if that's what it takes.

I don’t see a problem. I usually pay between $5.00 - $10.00 when we’re located on remote job sites. Most common fee is $5.00 bucks.
If you want to hear about a unreasonable dump fee/charge, is when we were on a remote project in Queen Creek, AZ.
The closest RV Park (about 5 miles away) told me I had to pay their site’s daily rate to dump my tanks. Which made me drive approximately 40 minutes to a RV Repair Shop in Apache Junction who charged $5.00. Which I was more then happy to pay.
….or in another situation while in Santa Paul and the only game in town got their dump station stopped up (don’t know what people do to do that... ) and couldn’t use it for any price.
All I can say is thank heavens for port-a-johns.

BTW, if anyone is driving through Surprise, AZ. My friend Mark Tracey (Orangewood RV Center off of Bell Road and 115th Ave) has his dump station and water open to the public 24/7, 365 days a year for free.
