Does anyone know FIRST HAND if the Jordon Ultima works with electric over hydraulic brakes ?

What other pedal or brake pressure actuated controllers are there ?

Thanks

I have a real problem on my hands... I broke the cable on my Jordan. They don't make them anymore. I'm also not sure if it will work with electric over hydraulic brakes. I'm looking at replacing it.

Do the inertial (Tekonsha P3) controllers work as well as the cable/pressure controllers ? Do they automatically apply the brakes on downhills or how does that work ?

I had a Tekonsha before I got the Jordon. It was never adjusted right. At slow speed it was grabby. At high speed it wasn't aggressive enough. As soon as you touched the truck brake going down a hill it aggressively applied the trailer brake. Etc. Are they still like that ? Or are they smarter now ?

One thing I really like about the Jordan is that it displays brake current. If you get a break in the wiring the current goes down. You know about it right away. Do any of the controllers display current ?

They are still the same. If you want the same kind of seamless braking of the Jordon buy a MaxBrake or Brakesmart unit that uses a fluid sensor to apply true proportional braking. I have a Prodigy and a 14K fifth wheel -it needs adjustment on the fly for the two varying road conditions you described -it sucks -just haven't plopped down the $$ yet for the MaxBrake

Thanks for sharing that, Mapguy. I just found my old controller. Its a Tekonsha Voyager. I hate it. The Jordan is SOOO much nicer.

I am going to take my Jordan apart to see if I can retrofit it with a pressure sensor rather than the cable. It would be unbeatable if I could. I've had it for 5 years and its been flawless.

I broke the cable (twice) when I bled the brakes after working on the truck. The brake pedal went to the floor and the cable didn't allow that much travel.

So it applies the right amount of trailer brake all the time without jerking or being too light regardless of uphill, downhill fast or slow ?

I'm not being facetious... I don't know much about these things other than I didn't like the Voyager.

I don't want to hear about a broken cable, I have my Jordan mounted IN the dash and I know nothing else could replace it. Can you take the Jordan apart? If so you should be able to replace the cable. Go to a bicycle shop or motorcycle shop to find a cable that can be used. You don't need a particularly strong cable. I doubt the Jordan can be converted to hydraulic operation, the Jordan uses a linear variable resistor, you would have to find a hydraulic pressure transducer that would provide the same resistance range.

Sounds like a troll. Seen his work before. Nice profile. But I'll offer this anyway, Mor/ryde installs Prodigy with their disc brake upgrades. I hear Maxbrake is a great product also.

A prodigy is heads and tails above the Tekonsha predecessors. I have two of them. Not saying a Jordan, brakesmart etc are better or worst, but the Prodigy is better than a voyager, commander etc, having had both of these, plus one other I do not remember the version. I would by another prodigy today if one of these bit the dust for just about any reason I can think of.

With that in mind, if traveling this weekend you have the voyager, put it in and enjoy the weekend. Then get the next best option next week etc.

My Jordan worked with my BrakeRite E/H drum brakes but were too aggressive with my BrakeRite disc brakes. I went with a Hayes Genesis but it was also too aggressive. I ended up with a Brake Smart which stops the truck/trailer like the truck alone. I now have three brake controllers installed.
