I get 17-18 MPG in my wife's '03 Silverado LS 5.3 Ext cab 2WD. That's combined mileage as I never drive her truck on the highway. She gets 15'ish combined as she drives more agressively than I do. Towing our ROO 233S I get 8-10 MPG depending on hills and wind.

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you

When I am not hauling, my average has been around 17 mpg highway and 13 in the city.

Wow, you all have been so helpful. Thanks for sharing your information. It seems my truck in getting about the same range as most. Makes sense about the wind. That does seem to play in more than the size and weight of the trailer.

Yep, that's true, at least for relatively flat highway driving. Due to the wind resistance of a TT, they are are "harder" to tow than just about anything else (you'd reasonably expect to tow, that is). Aside from my TT, which weighs approx. 6500 lbs, I've used the 'Burb to tow many things, including a 5000 lb boat, a car on a flatbed trailer (5500# or so), and a dump trailer full of wet mulch on one occasion and of gravel on a few occasions (approx. 9k lbs). With the boat and car/trailer, I was able to move along at safe freeway speeds in 4th gear w/ little difficulty -- much easier than I can w/ the TT in tow. Even the much heavier dump trailer, once it got moving, was easier to keep at speed than the TT (although I kept the speed very low and only towed it 15 miles or so). So you add a headwind to the already high resistance of the TT, and it spells trouble, or at least very low mpgs.
