any of the decals on your RV? We've kept ours washed & waxed but the harsh sun is still hurting ours.
If you have replaced, did you do it yourself? How hard of a job is it?

Wax can be one reason for your problem but we have waxed ours for years and just some fade is all we have. I use 303 sometimes before waxing on the decals but who knows really how to avoid this problem. Seems like what works for some doesn't work for others.

I have not changed mine, but I briefly worked for a sign company.

When installing vinyl graphics, he used water with a bit of dish soap. He would spray the surface, put the sticker on, position it, then squeegee the water out starting in the middle and working out.

Used this method when replacing decals on snowmobiles - worked fairly well.

Our 5er's previous owner bought spray paint that matched the decals, intending to paint them on using the slightly faded background as a guide, but never got around to doing it.

Ours became an eye sore so we removed most of them using a heat gun and hard labor. It took two solid days of work, spread out over two weekends to save my fingers.

Basically you heat a section of the decal, and then use a plastic putty knife and slide it under the edge of the decal and push along as you heat, you develop a rhythm. With ours there were long sections where I could pull the decal with my fingers as I heated it up. This was fast but short lived since most of the decals were too brittle.

The putty knife technique and the pulling technique were the quickest ways I found to remove the decals. Once the decal is gone, I went back over the area with mineral spirits to remove the adhesive. Then a wash and a wax and the decals were gone.

There is still a shadow effect where the decals were located. It actually looks kind of neat, kind of a ghostly image of the graphics in some spots. Overall it looks good enough to leave as is and not have to replace the decals.

One of the RV detailers said he is able to remove decals using polish and a buffing wheel....of course he wanted $500 to do the job.

If I did need to do something I would have grphics painted on.

The name was removed last year on our 2010 sanpiper, most was comming off,so before it would leave a faded spot, its gone and rubbed out.the remaining image is also comming of soon, and rubbed out.Dosent bother me if the mfg,or logo is gone. They have been a pain on a couple of ours in the past.

There is a product called 'vinyl off' that helps with the removal. I changed some of ours and then used a plastic bondo spreader to apply the new ones. Getting the actual stickers off is not so bad but getting the residual 'sticky' off is a pain. The romover softens it but then it just balls up and smears around. Takes lots of clean rags.

Cost me $600.00 to have them removed. Lucky this was covered under warranty, but was given a quote of $2500.00 to remove and replace them. That is with dealership providing the replacement graphics. I read where many had replaced them and they still started to peal or fade, so I opted not to replace mine. As some have said, you can still see where they were but that is much better than what was on there before.

It costs between $8,000 and $14,000 depending on complexity.

Took my Montana sticker off my 09 already! Just the front cap 'montana' sticker which was peeling badly after only 1 year. All other stickers look fine.

Took about 3 hours with a blow dryer, lighter fluid and lots of rubbing. Waxed out the faded area and now have to look real hard to see any faded area.

Will continue to protect the finish/gel coat with 303
