Just like most things, your wants and needs change as life goes on. Small car / house / family / RV -- Medium car / house / family / RV -- Large car / house / family / RV -- back to Small...you get the idea.

Little over 25 years 4 TT. We must be lucky or do not require change as often as others. Either one we seem to get good value out of our rigs.

First take a look at your tow vehicle, are you going to use it or purchase a newer, bigger vehicle (more expensive). If you plan to use your current vehicle find out what the maximum weight and length you can tow. Once you know that, you can start looking for your TT.
I look for quality first within the towing guidelines. Then the floorplan. Picking a manufacture is something you will probably have to do by looking at their build quality. What is there warranty? One year? Two years? Three years? A longer factory warranty doesn't guarantee quality but I have found the better manufactures arn't affraid to give them to you. I would stay away from entry level models unless it's from a well known top of the line manufacture.
Do your homework and have an idea what manufactures and models you want to see. If possible try and see them at an RV show where they are all on the same site. Plan ahead, if you kids are nine or ten they probably arn't going to want to sleep in bunk beds in one or two years. Get them a tent. I am at a point where I want more conviences like electric awning, jacks, bigger tv, microwave oven. A walk around Queen bed is a must for me. Take your time it's a big purchase and you want to make sure your decision is the correct one.

Big CHEERS to that friend!
We bypassed the pop-up (we ALMOST got one) and got a 23 ft. HTT...used it 3 times and ordered a 29 foot bunkhouse a couple months ago. My boys are 1 and almost 3...this should be a better match for us. Room for the pack-n-play without putting it on the jacknife sofa!
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

not counting the popup 'wreck' given to me by my dad(sold em on the side-i was probably cheaper than junking it) we've gone through 4. It wasn't so much that we couldn't figure out/find what we wanted, it was more matching what was avaible to out wallet(1st 3 used). You also do 'define' your list of needs/wants along the way so when you can afford it-you know what's important to you. And your wants/needs do change with time-why we got rid of the BH, son stopped comming along-also why we got a sleeper sofa-in case he does.
i doubt anyone gets it right the 1st time-that's usually the one where you figure out if you like it or not-then the shopping starts.

We are on our 1st TT. It's a 2004 that we bought new. It is our starter and learning trailer, but we don't plan to replace it for another 4 years or so. The next one will be different as our type of camping has changed. From weekend towing to a seasonal site. Will we ever find the "Right" trailer? Sure, this one was the right one for us as a first TT. The next one will be right for that time in our lives.
