So I bought a used TT from a dealer about a week ago. Our first TT matter of fact, 2000 KZ Sportsmen 2503. So yesterday we had a good rain for most of the day. I went inside today to load some more items because our first trip is this weekend. I found a spot on the front wall where it felt wet. When I was trying to see how big the area was my finger poked a hole in the covering. It felt wet but it was hard to tell, regardless it has been wet there before and I found a small area (depending on what I missed) of rot.

Is the dealer responsible for repairing this? TT came with a 30 day warranty. I checked the roof and outside walls and see no cracks and all sealant looks good.

Any ideas?

30 day warranty on what? If it's the entire trailer then yes, go back to him and ask for it to be fixed.
If the 30 day warranty excludes leaks you, are on your own.
Good luck!

Yep, it all depends on just WHAT the guarantee covers on the trailer. USUALLY it covers most everything but there MAY be an exclusion for structural items or it COULD have just certain items that are covered (appliances for example). did you reed the warranty before you purchased?

The warranty will be very specific about what is and is not covered.
Read it.
Good luck.

Call the dealer, if he is a good one, they will fix it as a good will thing, regardless of the warranty and what it says. THey want you as a customer, and to tell your friends "Go to this one, they took great care of me, even 45 days after I bought it they put a guy on the roof for 45 minutes fixing a leak"

They should fix the leak, as for taking the roof off, removing any rotten wood, and spending $2,000 to put it all back together, you probably will not see that happen.

Good Luck,

Fred.

I bet they would put some sealant somewhere and it might just stop the leak. But...
You should still make sure the leak is fixed right and in a way that will last.

do some research on this site.. tons of stuff.

if he represented it as being inspected and defect free, I would expect him to fix it...

since the warranty is only for thirty days it is most likely just a promise offered by the dealer to take care of existing problems discovered after the sale… it may or may not be very detailed or even in writing…

If he is a reputable dealer he should take care of you…

Thanks everyone! I will be contacting the dealer tomorrow. They did tell me that they looked over and cleaned everything before we purchased it. I remember the guy that did the walk through with us said he checked it and it would not leak. I can tell from the size of the area and the damage it has been going on for sometime. I will have to look into what the warranty covers.

I will let everyone know the out come. Thanks again.

Welcome to the world of RVing. Sorry to hear about the rot for your first RV. The dealer should stand if not all the way but atlest work with you on the cost for repair, splitting the repair bill.
