GMAC is the new lending arm of Chrysler. That should make you feel good, eh?

What's positive about this is that there are still hundreds of thousands of people at work earning $30/hr to stand there and turn the same bolt for 8 hours a day, who wouldn't be if GM had gone under.

It's not only the GM workers, but thousands of supplier positions that were saved.

A classic example of this is the suppler that supplied Toyota's problem accelerator pedals. They are an Elkhart IN company. They supply one very small comonet, but employ many people.

If GM (or Chrysler or any other major North American manufacturer) had gone out of business, many of these companies would have went with them.

On top of that, think about the jobs after the vehicle leaves the plant. Everyone from the people that transport the vehicles, to the people that work for the local dealer. There are thousands nationwide that would be jobless if one of these corporations were to fail.

By the way, GM did declare bankruptcy. Through their banruptcy, they got rid of the recently idled GM plant in our area. With gettig rid of it, they dumped the millions of dollars of cost for a major pollution cleanup onto the taxpayers of the USA.

For those that want to make this political, remember the Bush administration started the bailout thing and the O'Bama administration agreed that it had to continue. It's very easy for us to dam what the politicians do, but the bottom line is they have expert advisors that know a lot more of the cause and effects of a major corporate failure than the majority of us know (although many on here will brag to know more).

Bush gave them a loan. Obama got the government taking control over the majority of the company and altered how they went bankrupt. The Democrat majority run house and senate bought off on it. Under Bush. I am no Bush fan but a year later it is time fir this administration to put their big boy pants on, assume some actual responsibilty and stop blaming the past year on Bush.

CAVE people; Citizens Against Virtually Everything.
See, no matter what is happening, some people will dig and dig until they find something negative to P&M about... Some people are just half empty folks.
Kind of a bummer really... But, that's the lay of the land and the very reason Hot Mama, the Fat Man and the Fox are so succesful.

So WHS. If you had 300 bucks in your pocket and got mugged, but the thief turned around and tossed you bus fare for the ride home. Would you smile and say "Well at least I can get home, it could have been much worse."?

SkiDood, well, actually yes! Would I be mad, absolutely. Would I call the cops, absolutely! Would I let that be the driving factor in my life, No way!
And truthfully, in the end I would look at what I was doing, for the lesson to be learned, and then say a prayer for fellow who mugged me. About the same thing I did during the Bush era. Seriously, I prayed a lot for that man! :-)

While Ford did alot right by getting cash from lines of credit to weather the storm. Cash for clunkers(A bail out in my eyes) helped them quite a bit.

Fair enough. And kudos to you for answering a question without getting mad.
