The last blizzard that came in here I put my slides out on the camper in case our power went out in the house I could get the heat on it the camper so we could stay warm. When the storm quit and the snow was subsiding I went out to pull my slide back in and the living room slide wouldn't come back in. There was no more snow on the camper or slide. It would barely move and the motor would begin clicking like it was full out or full in. I got the manual crank handle out and tried to hand crank it in and the shaft sheered right off with little effort. The motor for the slide is underneath. The whole underside of the camper is completely enclosed and I don't really want to tear into it. I have to call the warranty company and see if they will cover it since it is under the Crossroads extended warranty. I can't tow it to get it fixed.

Anyone ever had a problem like this with their slide?

For what it's worth: That doesn't sound like a motor problem to me. If it cranked hard then it's more than likely binding on something for some reason. Trying to force it in with the crank then sheered off the pin or broke a plastic gear in the transmission attached to the motor. Make sure you don't have a water leak that's causing swelling and binding of the slide room. I'm of course, assuming you have an electric slide, not a hydrolic one.

You didn't mention battery condition. I just had some grounding wire issues last week. Made it sound like dead batteries. Look there 1st but Road runner bill of $358 sure sounds like a deal for all the work involved.

This past summer my slide went to far out and the floor of the slide on the rear side popped down off the trailer floor ramp that allows the slide to come up off the floor when it comes in. I had the same problem, as it wouldn't come in and the crank mechanism broke when I tried cranking it in. I called an RV sales lotin a nearby town who had a mobile repairman. The mobile repairman had to cut into the covered bottom and he discovered the problem. He went inside our fiver with a crow bar and lifted the offending end of the slide up with the bar while we hit the in switch. There was a loud pop and the slide came in.

The next day we took it to the RV lot's repair shop where they adjusted the mechanism and greased the gears, repaired the hand crank mechanism and patched up the bottom as good as new. Total bill for all this was $358.

First I would look at the batteries they have to be up because the slide run's on 12 volt. Most slide have a brake that you have to release to get the slide to move by hand mine has, your slide may be different.

Well I forgot about this post. I put up a new one. The batteries are 1 year old and I keep them both charged up. It isn't the motor. The gears and shaft that is under the trailer exposed to the elements just outside of the frame are seized.

Last time I brought my slide in on my Crossroads Paradise Pointe my stop can continued into the frame of my trailer. (no unusal noise or actions when this was done) At the point I was attempting to get the slide to go out (next trip), I attempted the manual slide and broke off the turning rod also. Dealership had to cut the stop can from the frame and order new parts. They indicated that they would have to repair the hole in the frame to make smaller so the can would not pull thru again. I have had to replace the motor to get the manual rod use again.
