We've been fortunate in that my wife's ovarian cancer has not returned, but we meet a lot of women with recurrences. It seems to me that additional surgery is effective if one or two discrete tumors remain, and can be removed. Your oncologist would have to decide, although some doctors are reluctant to do multiple surgeries.
I'm surprised that the doctor hasn't tried other chemo drugs- around here there are three or four drugs that the oncologists use sequentially.
We've not seen much use of radiation around here, but maybe different localities have different preferred treatments. We did solicit opinions from at least two doctors prior to any treatment in order to get a good idea of the alternative. Fortunately, our insurance covered trips to out-of-town cancer centers-we always went for the experts in the field.
Keep working on treatments- you only need to find one that works. And we'll keep you in our prayers.

Met with the radiologist today. Talked to her about the Tomotherapy - Thanks jhilley! She didn't feel that the Tomo was going to be of benefit vs. the IMRT.
Being that the tumor is abutting the pancreas, it's in a tough spot no matter which machine.
The biggest problem she sees is getting a small intestinal blockage from the radiation, but she thinks we have a very high chance of shrinking the tumor and relieving the pain.

Urgent update -
DW is in the ER today - it was the first day of school for our 5 year old, so we all went to the bus stop, and while waiting for the bus, DW was nauseated and vomited. (not a great thing for the kids to see - as they asked is mommy ok?)
She is in the ER and they are doing tests to find out what is going on. The nausea is not from chemo, because she hasn't had chemo for almost 3 weeks now. We were going to start radiation on Monday! She is scheduled for a PET scan this friday...
Aargh! It's an emotional rollercoaster here...
I've spent much time in prayer today and even had a good friend of mine (a pastor) call me out of the blue - he didn't know about the current situation with my wife, but knew the general stuff... he was in town dropping a friend off at the airport - so he stopped by and spent time with me encouraging me. That was a huge blessing today.

Evening update - DW is home... they did a CT scan and didn't find anything new...
So no news is good news? The good news is her bowels are working again - after not for about a week. That may have been the cause of the problem?
Anyhow - she is still on a lot of meds to keep her going, but thank God for them!
I'll keep ya updated once we get the PET scan and find out more about the radiotherapy.

My prayers are with you. I lost my beloved DH 18 months ago to brain cancer. Do your best to take care of yourself - being the primary caregiver is most difficult, and yet I found it to be an honor at the same time!
