Looking for some help from the great minds out there. Having some issues with my 2006 Roadtrek 190.

Just realized my brand new batteries were not being charged by the shore power or the charger. I can see 14 volts at the battery terminal of the inverter but the batteries still show the discharged voltage.

When running off the the vehicle alternator, I see the 14 volts at the batteries. This explains why I am always fully charged when I reach my destination.

I've checked all breakers and fuses. Plus I have 120 and 12v on any of the power sources.

Can anyone tell me what I am overlooking?

Inline fuse or circuit breaker in the cables between the inverter and bank popped maybe? Does the inverter work when not plugged in to shore power?

Did it charge OK before the batteries were replaced? (Allowing for the no-doubt weak old batteries, of course.)

The inverter will provide 120V when I have enough battery power.

Not sure if it charged the old batteries or not. When they died I assumed it was the age. Had a dead cell in each.

I keep looking over the schematic provided by roadtrek but each circuit breaker open seams to indicate I would have no power from the effected source. This is what is blowing my mind, I have power from each of the sources, both 120 and 12v.

I have been focusing on the relay but each time I think I got it, the open should prevent me from having power from that source.

Sure that 12V isn't coming from the converter? When I took the converter out of my 97 I found that there were two wires supplying the 12V to all the fused 12V circuits. Kinda like a buss bar, there is still a path back to ground unless they are all pulled/switched. So the source side of the pulled fuse holder will still show power. At least that is what I suspect and how mine appeared to be wired.

Hope that helps.

the plot thickens. You need to refer to your roadtrek 190 electrical schematic to understand what I'm talking about.

Refer to the relay. It has the positive from the battery and the positive of the inverter on the left hand side of the relay. 12V load is on the right hand side of the relay. Purple to I and black to S.

Mine is routed exactly the same except the positive from the inverter. It is not connected to left hand side with the battery but on the right hand side with the 12V load.

So would this be cause of the problem, still providing 12V service but not charging my batteries? Or am I chasing an insignificant issue? Will the charge still reach the batteries via the relay although it's on the downstream side?

Inverter or converter? Anyway you have an open connection between the two. Most likely a switch or fuse.

I haven't looked at mine in that much detail, Larry, but I know there is a sticker near the electrical panel that says that the battery master must be on when you're connected to shore power. That said, I'm guessing that mine is wired just like yours and, therefore, would not charge the batteries if the master switch is off.

I dont see any reference to a battery master. Al I have is main power which cuts power to everything. I dont have any other switches that I know of away from my Elect. Dist. Power.

Can you elaborate?

Hmmmm.... dunno if this might be it.... On my '00 & '02 RT's, IIRC if the battery switch was turned off _ before_ the shore power connection was made, the battery _didn't_ charge. But if the battery switch was turned off after the shore power was on, the battery stayed connected to the charger. I think by '06, they'd quit using the cheap single stage battery-boiler charger, but dunno if they'd changed the wiring or not. And I'm not sure this fits your symptoms.
