Been towing a 32' 5ver for about 5 yrs now, but we're looking at a new coach for retirement, and have been thinking seriously about moving up to a 35'. But I must admit, I'm a bit intimidated by the extra 3'. Any one have any experience in increasing the size of their rig by that much, and if so, how did it go for you? Should I be concerned about the extra length, or is a matter of even more practice with towing, turning, and parking, and I'll eventually be OK?

Appreciate any input.

I did something similar last year, went from towing a 28ft travel trailer to a 35ft fifth wheel.Yes it was a little intimidating at first but I practiced backing, turning in a open parking lot,so far so good. Good luck and keep practicing, you'll get it !

It's really not a big difference a couple of tows and you won't even know you moved up the only thing to keep in mind is the campgrounds you stay at make sure they can accomodate the length.

Went from a 29' 5er to a 39' toy hauler. Needed room to carry my bike, and couldn't come up with a suitable carrier for the old 5er. Going over by that much was a big adjustment for me. Have a lot more trailer hanging behind the axles than before. I'm not too sure 3 feet would be that much of a difference, but then it would also depend on where they put the axles. If you add 3 feet, but the floor plan required the mfg. to move the axles back 2 feet, I wouldn't think you'd notice any difference.

well don't know if this applies, but when I was concerned about the same thing in Class As, the salesman held his hands about 3 ft apart, and pointed out that was all we were talking about and pointed out also that if the first 32 ft got thru the last 3 ft would follow.

After a couple of days you won't even notice that it is any bigger.

Hopefully the 35 footer will be a light as your present 5er as some 35' 5ers will overload your 2500 trucks rear axles/tires pretty quick.

X2.

3 feet isn't that much of a difference from a length perspective, the addtional weight might be another issue though.
